Studio Tips

I guess these would be called tips...these are a couple things I use and love in my studio anyway.

Metalic bowl for framelits - Bloomeriefabrics

This is a little metal bowl with a strong magnet on the bottom this is what I use to keep my dies in when I am using them at class or working on a swap, as soon as I remove the die from my cardstock it immediately goes in the dish, this way I don't lose a die in between cardstock, or getting dropped on the floor as the magnet holds it firm. Once we are done at class or my prep they go back in their storage envelope but this saves them from getting lost in between times. My sweet friend Leslie got me this cute one. I had originally bought one off of Amazon, a silver one and it reeked so bad (like rubber tires or gas or something), I gave it to Jeff for his shop .

Another little diddy I use in my studio is called a Coconut Salt Cellar and I got it off of Amazon and it did not reek at all...ha!

Coconut Salt Cellar to hold absorber

Are you saying what the heck is that for? Do you eat french fries in your studio and need to salt them? Do you have some cool salt technique we need to know about?

Absorber inside coconut

Nope, it holds my absorber shammy thing.

Lydia Fiedler told me about the absorber (also off of amazon...although you can get similar things at Home Depot..etc.) and what it is is a shammy style rag.

It is big so you cut it to the size you want.  The one in the pic looks different as I have several different brands.  They are like those things you wet and ring out and wrap around your neck to keep cool.

You wet it and wring it out but it holds the dampness and it is perfect for washing your photopolymer stamps.  Baby wipes break down and get lint everywhere, we don't have a cat and I can only imagine a house that has a cat the lint and cat hair that would cling to your photopolymer stamps.  No more, just wipe them clean with this and no it! At class everyone gets their own to use...minus the salt cellar.

Now Lydia had this other kinda salt cellar with a rubber closing mouth thing and I can not find it anywhere. I think they are from the planet mars or I looked on Amazon and googled salt cellar and this came up and people even had commented that they used it for their shammy so I got it and I love it.  It keeps it moist for days, it has a little gap so it won't get moldy.  Just wring it out and clean it once in a while (you can even toss it in the washing machine...just don't put it in the dryer).

So there ya have it a couple little tips today. What do you love to use in your studio...that not necessarily was made for crafting?

Organizing Embossing Powder and Glitter Diana Gibbs

When I re-did my studio in 2011 I searched for fun things to put my embellishments in, old jelly jars, baby bottles, mason jars you name it.  I love re-purposing things.

Looking back and these pics makes me realize I need to update pics of the studio.

Repurposing Fun

OK so I guess repurposing is not a word cause it underscored it in my blog title...oh well you know what I mean right? Find a use for something that it was not intended for.  If you have followed my blog for any length of time you know that is one of my fave things to do, especially if it involves antique shopping.

Today I had to go pick up my glasses, I only had them a month and I had a big old scratch right across the front so they replaced the lenses, there is a new-ish antique store not far from there so I thought I would zip over.  I have been trying to find something to put my Blendabilities in, in fact I have been carrying one around in my purse sticking it here and there when I think something will work, and today I found it.

Pop box blendabilities storage

It's an old Coca-Cola box and works great, it not only holds my Blendabilities (don't judge me by how many I have...I am a little addicted to them) it also holds the Stampin' Write markers, my Memento pads and refills too! There was another one there too but it had smaller holes and wouldn't work, I was tempted to get it too in case I found something for it later but I didn't. Might be kicking myself later but oh well, I find the smaller holed ones more than the bigger holed ones. These are also great for punch storage if you are out looking for something for them...but a tip always either take the item you are looking for storage for with you or at least measure it and take a ruler...ha!  The Blendabilities marker was small enough in my purse so it was no biggie to carry around.

What do you like to shop for and repurpose?

Have an awesome Wednesday and thanks for stopping in.

I think I will go get mine on. Another long busy day of cutting, stuffing, big shotting etc for our Spring Fling event. Rhonda is staying over again tonight and heading home in the morning, we still have tons to do but can do the next stuff on our own and then get together again to finish it up.

I can't believe how quick these cards came in. Remember I showed you the cute bee card. This is the cat that is in the same Spunky Sweater download. Look at his cute jammies.

We don't even have a cat (Toby would not allow it) but I think if we did, I would dress it up. I mean I dress Toby up why would a cat be any different?

Here is the inside greeting. Cute eh?

Refill organization Diana Gibbs

So the other day I was looking for a refill and I even had Jeff looking, not all my refill bottles had the little cardstock circle on the top to help figure them out, so I pulled them all out and made sure they were all done...much better.

Well this old gal is off to bed, I am reading the Outlander series and am on the second book, and finally Jamie is in it and I want to see what is up. Have you read it?  They are making a series of it and the guy that plays Jamie is not who I envisioned. This is my Jamie in my head.

I have been wanting lights to go under my cabinets in my studio for a long time, but I am a bit anal and I didn't want them hanging below the cabinets, I found some before but they stuck out, so back they went.  So I went to IKEA the other day with MAMMa and Mari and found some...yay! So Jeff put them up today. Thanks Hunny Bunny!

Here is where I score, cut, and use the Big Shot.

Lots better eh? It is hard to tell in the pictures, but believe me, what a difference.
