A couple weeks ago Jeff planted a bunch of trees in his “orchard” and I am excited to share the bee’s knees with you today. This post has a lot of pictures, but I just kept clicking away cause the bee was so fun to watch.

Here is a great one as he is landing on the apple tree. We have 3 apple trees, 1 orange, 1 peach, 1 plum and 1 apricot. I would like to plant a meyer lemon and one more orange, but Jeff wants to see how these do first. You can see a little bit of pollen on the bee’s knees.

I asked Jeff if the bee knew what he was doing, like does he know that he is pollenating the trees? Or is he just enjoying that sweet sugar nectar or whatever it is called, and just happens to get it on his legs?

He did not care that I was following around taking his picture, he would just wiggle and get right in there, his little bum wiggling.

He looks barely hanging on here. But you can see that his legs are getting more and more pollen on them.

He climbed right into this flower. Look how cool his wings are.

By the time he was in there you could not even see him. My phone took pretty good pictures I think. You can see the fuzzy leaves on the branch even.

Look how hairy he is and you can really see his wings now. So fun, and this is why you need to plant more than one tree, and a couple different kinds, so the bee can pollenate them. We learned that from a couple years ago, when we didn’t and the tree died.

Look at all the pollen on his leg, so cool right? This one looks like so much movement and makes me think of the bee movie. He just enjoyed himself and I left him to finish his job. Thank you Mr…or Miss Bee.
