So a couple weeks ago I stood out with the chucks (chickens and ducks) and tried to get a video of them stamping their feet. Of course when they did it I did not have my phone, then I waited and waited, crouched down on the ground and I thought I was never going to get my knees back unbent…ha! Then when Georgette did it Phyllis got in front of her and you could not see her…so I gave up.
When I went out this morning Phyllis did it and again I didn't have my phone!!!!!! Grr…so I ran back in the house for my phone…and yeah I caught Georgette doing it a couple times.
Isn't that so funny? The first time I ever saw this was when we had those wild mallard ducks that lived here for a while, and the female would do it when I sprayed them with water, and I thought she was just happy. Well I think they are happy when they do it, but it also mimics the sound of rain and the worms and bugs come up out of the ground. Neat eh?
Sorry for my morning voice, I didn't have my ears in so I was not sure how loud I was talking. Look at all our green weeds in the back…we had so much rain this winter and more is coming.
Have an awesome Monday and thanks for stopping in.

Di,
That was so cute! Thanks for sharing that and why they do it. I love to learn new things! Thanks for your persistence.
Sue
Love this! We've lost all our ducks to predators (bear, coyote, raccoon, fox, etc) no matter how secure we thought we had the pen and pond and we miss having them so much. Love the sounds they make when their bills are filtering through the water as well as their stomping. They're such fun!
Hi Sue, So fun right? I have learned so much by having chucks that is for sure! Big hugs, Di
Hi Sandy, We have been very lucky. We have solar flashing lights that blink all night to ward off dogs etc. We have only had one instance where wild dogs tried to get in and Jeff scared them off, then when he had the chuckar pen a dog tore it up and a lot got loose. They are fun! Big hugs, Di
Hi Di,
I love your cute video. I have ducks and chickens too. I love them so much.
I also have homers called rock doves. They are the beautiful white ones used for weddings and funerals.
They are so beautiful. This past summer, predators got all of my chickens that were just
living out in the yard, and sleeping in the shed at night. I think it was a fox, as there was no feathers, or bird parts to be found. Also, some of my ducks were taken. Sad, but that is nature, and the way of things. So ducks do stamp!! Thanks for the fun!!
Love your blog, and the lovely objects you create. Your monthly card kits are the best.
Crafty hugs,
Karren
Love you blog. You may do it again. I didn't know they stamped their feet, that was cute. Telling them worms and bugs wake up come to the top. Across the road and over the hill is a pond and there are a pair of honkers that go over every morning and evening. Not sure where they go in the evening but they're back in the morning. So nice to hear.
I have missed your bird posts! So cute to see them stomp their feet and why, makes sense. Thank you for sharing! Hugs xo
Hi Karren,I am so sorry about your chickens and ducks, it is sad. Jeff had chuckers once, got all these little chicks in the mail and they were cool looking with a orange beak. They were for food, not like my "chucks" which are pets…heck we don't even get eggs hardly any more and we buy them at the store…ha! Thanks for loving my kits too. Big hugs, Di
Hi Glenda, They do it but hard to catch on the video, so glad I did. Like that time I fed a hummingbird, I can watch back anytime now. So funny. I love the sound of the ducks…they know when I come outside cause they "afleck" me over to feed them! Big hugs, Di
Hey Cindy! How are you? I need to always have my phone on me eh? I think I have an old video of them in the pond, and they sure love water. Big hugs, Di
