Before we talk about cake, look what came today…
The Spring Fling supplies are here! My sweet UPS guy Curtis always takes great care of my orders, I will miss him when he retires. Now this is only half of the supplies, the other half is at Rhonda's. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us, cutting paper, embossing, eating, big shotting, stuffing, laughing…hey we do have a good time doing it.
Oh and Paper Pumpkin News (like the orange type?): If you have signed up for Paper Pumpkin and chose me, please email me and let me know. Stampin' Up! is now sending us an email to tell us who has picked us to subscribe and I don't want to miss anyone. So far I have not got a notice from everyone that picked me…so even if you told me already tell me again. Thanks!!!
So I had some of the battery tea light candles left over from my snowmen. Then I got thinking what if I cover one with the awesome 5/8" flower trim? So I got my trusty glue gun out and did it.
Look at my fancy picture taking set up. One of Granny's doilies tugs at my heart.
I sponged a bit of Pink Pirouette on the flowers, it adds that cute little feminine touch. I made a little "cake plate" with the Penant die. I added pearls here and there in the flowers. Depending on how much this little gem gets handled I may have to use a hotglue gun on them to make them stay on the flower trim.
I added the pearl ribbons that come with the package of pearls, it seems like I never use these enough and they were perfect for this. Then I just glued the flowers in between.
Then I got to thinking, what if I made a tiered cake? So I asked my hubby if he would pretty please with a cherry on top cut me a couple circles out of wood so I could try it, and he did. I spray painted them (in the dark outside in the cold) vanilla so if you could see them through the flowers it would not look bad.
Doesn't that look adorable? The bottom two tiers are hot glued together and onto the stand, but the top one that has the on and off switch on the bottom of the candle is just sitting on the top so you would have to be careful moving it around but that way you can light it up. I am thinking this could have been done without the candle even, and just make a tiered cake and put something else on the top, a number for a birthday? Or how about the cute little dress form that is in the Spring catalog? Is that giving you ideas?
Here they are on my hutch. Oh and do the little bases look familiar?
Remember these?
Jeff just spray painted them vanilla. When I got them I totally intended to use them for something else, but I loved how these turned out, and so glad I procrastinated.
Well this old girl is putting her heat gun and a couple burned fingertips to bed.
Have a great Saturday and thanks for stopping in.

Di, these are amazing!!!!What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!!!!!
The tiered 'cake' is calling for a bride & groom on top! You are too talented, Diana!
These are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your technique.
Those cakes are just so cute…
You are awesome! I love this idea and can't wait to make one. Thank you!
Dang those are cute!!! Did the wood pieces for the layered cake have a thickness to them to make the space betwee the layers that are also covered with flowers?
I just love this kit but wish there was more yardage. =)
He cut the circle bigger, I think one was 3 or so and then one was 4 1/2 or so. Then I just started gluing. Hugs, Di
