Well Mum leaves in the morning (well when you read this it will be today), not super early but still in the morning so we don't get another day together. Boohoo! What is nice is that she will get home on Granny's birthday. Granny is Mum's Mum. She is 93 years young today. I have been sending Granny I think 9 or 10 cards total for a while so she would get a card a day (if it goes that way at the PO) while Mum was here so she would get a card and a little note to hopefully make her smile. Then I made a fancier card and wrote a bigger letter about Mum's trip and pictures of things we did and sent that home with Mum, so she could hand deliver it to Granny.
Here's Granny and I in September when I went home for my little sister Courtney's birthday. Isn't she beautiful? She has a great memory too, so we are very blessed. She does not get around which is sad, but I think she really likes the home she lives in and it is near Mum and my sister Jacqui so she gets lots of company. I sure do miss her and wish she could come visit, and I know she does too. Mum puts the computer on in the family area and pulls up my blog once in a while so she can see what's up.
Oh and look what I finally found on my computer…I couldn't find it when I posted this originally.
This is Granny and Poppa holding me. Granny looks like she is thinking this one might be a handful and Poppa is thinking boy I am glad I go to work every day. Ha! I love these two, they were a special part of my growing up and made me who I am today.
Happy Birthday Granny, we love you!
Now for those of you that might venture over here to see what I have to say about American Idol…here goes…look away if you have not seen it.
Tonight they sang songs from 2010, 2011 and 2012, and how silly of me to think I would know them, I think I knew one or two.
Skylar was up first, and I must admit she gets better every week and she got to sing a song right up her alley. I do think she screams too much at times.
Colton was amazing as usual, and I didn't know the song he sang either but I would totally buy his CD now.
They did duo singing again, and Philip and Elise were up, and seems that Elise picked the song, she really sang more then Philip, it sounded good, I didn't know the song and reading the lyrics (cause I have the subtitles on when I watch tv) it had odd ones. Also what was up with the Mad Hatter-ish black and white visuals in the background, were they hypnotizing us? Buy Coca Cola…You really love J-Lo…Steven Tyler is only 29…Make sure to vote…I don't know but they were odd.
Jessica was up next, and I know she is an amazing singer, but really if the songs she has sung the whole time (other then the Whitney Houston one) are what she would put on an album, I wouldn't get it, she is boring. At the rehearsal it looked like she had been crying, or perhaps had a cold or allergies. I didn't know this song either and she is so skinny I have no idea where the voice comes from. She is so skinny in fact that her little bum almost missed the piano when she went back to sit down at the end. Note to Jessica: I got some butt fat you can have.
Joshua was up, loved the pink shirt and matching socks. I didn't know song but he was amazing. There was a girl dancing behind him at the beginning of the song with a fringy dress and Steven Tyler was practically begging Joshua that he needed to get her phone number. For who Steven?
More duo with Colton & Skylar – who swear up and down (almost too much) that they are not dating. The song was perfect for the two love birds…oh did I say that? Ha! They did have to kinda scream over each other though.
Hollie was up and they are so hard on this girl it makes me mad, cause I think she sounded fine. I loved her little white swan dress, and apparentely so did Steven Tyler who criticized her singing as well as J-Lo and Randy, but he said she looked good and then he kinda looked her up and down…hello isn't she like 12 and isn't he 100? My hypnotizing had been wore off by then, I just thought eww…eww…what do you call a guy that is a cougar?
Phillip was up, and again I didn't know the song, and it was the same old same old with him. J-Lo and Randy didn't really care for it, but Steven Tyler did, I think perhaps Steven was not paying attention to Phillip as he was probably oogling after the cute little blond saxaphone player that was accompanying him.
One thing I noticed was I don't think they have had Tommy Hillfiger on since the fiasco of a drastic hair cut and color change for Erika only to have her kicked off that week. Things that make ya go….hmmmm?
Then a threesome with Hollie, Jessica and Joshua. I thought the harmonies were off and I didn't know the song. The judges liked it. Perhaps they hear better than me, and perhaps they are drinking something other than Coke in their cups…I am just saying.
Elise was last and I loved her performance, I would buy her CD, I love the timber of her voice, how it can be raspy. It is just very unique. I think she touches Ryan a lot.
So it is hard for me to pick bottom three, maybe Skylar (but she did good), Hollie & Phillip. I voted for Colton, Joshua & Elise
Don't miss tomorrow night, my favorite of all time James Durbin is going to be on. I will be right there watching it. We don't have a tape machine so I can't be anywhere else.
Well this old gal better hit the hay, gotta get up to get Mum to the airport.
Have an awesome Thursday and thanks for stopping in.
Thanks for the Durbin update. I fast forwarded through the show and didn't hear this. I almost stopped watching Idol when they foolishly let him go last year.
Happy Birthday Granny-you are so beautiful. May your birthday be a blessed one and may all your wishes come true. Di I know why you are so special–you have a lovely Granny and a wonderful Mum. I know how hard it is to have to say goodbye-especially after having so much fun. Have a good day.
I follow American Idol too and love all your comments! I wish you watched Survivor. I'd love to hear your take on that every week!! Happy Birthday to your Granny!!
