…ok well there is not much of a draft in Arizona (except those haboobs, and monsoons), but we do have critters. The other day when I was shopping I saw a door snake or something like that, and I thought well I can make that, I am not much of a seamstress but it didn't look too hard to sew up a tube and stuff it with batting, plus I knew I had some cute Stampin' Up! fabric.
My studio screen door does not meet the threshold I guess you woud call it, so there is a big gap…
…I usually lay a blanket down when I have the door open (I like to take advantage of the nice weather when we have it, and before it gets too hot) to keep any critters that might decide to make themselves at home and come on in. Toby loves the blanket, cause he will lay on it and look out the door, but it really is a pain in the butt to wash it each time, so today I whipped this up.
It is not super fancy, and my sewing is not that good. I still want to finish it, I want to add some of the big buttons that went with this fabric, but I broke my needle that had the big hole in it, cause I was sewing the end and the buttons on with the bakers twine, so I gotta go get a new needle.
I also said I would show you the trees Jeff planted the other day.
First a picture of my cutie patootie hard working hubby.
He bought 5 Chinese Elm trees, we want them to fill in and have shade along the walk way he made last summer.
Looks neat eh? I think he'll let them grow a year and then decide if he wants to add any kind of hanging flowers along the base of the pot. I kinda like the clean look though.
Well it's a quick post for me tonight. I'm headed to bed.
Have an awesome Monday and thanks for stopping in.
Wow the walkway and the trees look great.
I'm gonna have fun sitting in the shade reading my Kobo……..if I ever get there!!!
The rate things are going…the trees will be 100 years old and chopped down and in the fire pit by the time I get there!
Luv ya
Jax
I totally agree Di…..Critters get in your house in Arizona and it's impossible to get them out (especially those nasty snakes). The door snake that you created is FABULOUS and is going to look extra cool with the big buttons on it. WOW!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the trees that your oh so handsome hubby put on the walkway to the side of your house. WOW…..Looks amazing and I can say first hand – I've been up to your place in the dead of summer and it does get HOT and those trees are going to create some amazing shade for your yard. NICELY DONE!
I have a silly question. Why not plant the trees in the ground? Pots need lots and lots of water, with drainage of course, and the trees will outgrow the pots in a few years. Just wondering.
Your yard looks beautiful.
Love the "snake"! You did a super job, can't wait to see it when you finish it up. The trees look fabulous too! 🙂
Love the trees and those ginormous pots are fabulous! Where did you get them?
I have the same door issue and that would solve problems with flies and crickets creeping in. The pots look amazing. Where did you find them?
