Wicked

Wicked-poster

Tracy, Rhonda, MAMMa and I went to see Wicked tonight at Gammage. Tracy has seen it in New York and we have wanted to see it together.  I read the book a couple years ago and I am glad I did because with my deaf ears I didn't understand hardly a word anyone said, so I am glad I knew the story.

It did seem a bit different then the book and I found this online about the changes made to the play: "In addition to this change in focus, other modifications include Fiyero's appearance as the scarecrow, Elphaba's survival at the end, Nessarose using a wheelchair instead of being born without arms, Boq having a continuing love interest for Glinda, the complete cutting of Elphaba's years in the Vinkus and Doctor Dillamond not being murdered." gotta love that Wikipedia.

So that being said, here is another short post, it is almost midnight and I didn't get to bed till 12:30 last night and I tosssed and turned till probably 2am, so this old gal is tired tonight.

Tracy and I are going antiqueing tomorrow, so I hope to have some fun things to show you.

Have an awesome Wednesday and thanks for stopping in.

Wax On, Wax Off

Today was fun, my BFF Tracy and I went and got pedicures (and almost forgot to take our picture), then we met Sharon (hey sweetie) for lunch (totally forgot to take a picture), we then walked around San Tan Village mall and we ran into Krystine Brandt (hey cutie, and Ava is a doll), a fellow Demonstrator from Canada at Charming Charlies...too funny. What a small world.

Tony took our picture, it's a little blurry, but still not too bad.  We got the full treatment, sugar scrub, paraffin wax, hot rocks, and boy it felt so good, it had been a while since my old dogs had been pampered, with winter here I wear shoes or boots and no one sees my toes anyway, but the weather is warming up now.

I am trying to clean up my studio, so won't post much. We are going to go see Wicked tomorrow night with Rhonda and MAMMa, so we are excited for that.  Tracy has seen it in New York, so it will be interesting to hear how it compares.

Have an awesome Tuesday and thanks for stopping in.

Fascinator fit for a Queen

031 copy

At Leadership in Nashville last year I got the cutest little hat made out of the embellishment container from my friend and fellow Canadian "Queen" Elizabeth Freiter (Hi HRH), and since then I have seen lots of them being made. In fact Stampin' Up! even did one at either Leadership or Regionals this year. So since everyone was getting a container at Spring Fling we just had to decorate it.

It is super easy to do using the big scallop circle die for the base and a few punches and voila, a pretty hat.

So I am bummed that Once Upon a Time was not on tonight, but my BFF Tracy and I watched "Bridesmaids" instead.  She had not seen it, and it was fun seeing her reaction to certain parts of it.

I have got to hit the sheets...I am still tired.  I had club today, and got a bunch of stamping done.  We are getting pedicures tomorrow if we can be squeezed in.

Have an awesome Monday and thanks for stopping in.

Are you gettting sick of quick posts?  Sorry...but this old dog is whooped and I have stamp club tomorrow. Today was an amazing day, and I think everyone had a great time at Spring Fling, we had Demonstrators from PA, NM, even Canada, not too shabby eh?

I'll share one of my favorite things I think from the day, I know when I saw Linda Barnes demo these at Regionals I knew this had to be a make n take for Spring Fling.

This is aluminum flashing and 12 gauge wire we got at Lowes, and my sweet hubby cut the flashing so I could run it through the big shot and he also made up some sort of jig in the barn to bend all the wire stakes.  He teased and said "couldn't you buy aluminum wire?" and I was like "that is what Linda said to get!" I sprayed the flashing flower white with metal spray paint.  You want to primer it first.

Thanks Linda for teaching us this. A special Thanks to honey bunny Jeff for helping get this make n take ready for the day. I love you, as do all the 102 ladies that came to Spring Fling!

Here is what the packaging looks like for the flashing and the wire.

Guess who gets to keep this one?

Dies used were Original Dies, Ovals 2, Blossom Party

Misc: Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing folder (free with a $50.00 order), Cropadile, Black Bauble, SAB brad, chalkboard vinyl for decor elements

Keep in mind this is metal and it is sharp, so I would not let your kids help with this project. I was wondering what copper would look like and stick them in the garden and if they would turn color to a petina or something?

I hope you have been enjoying the Spring Fling make n takes so far.  I need to take pictures of my metal display...I forgot to and my body is saying Go To Bed!!!

Have a blessed Sunday and thanks for stopping in.

I have classes where we do Hybrid cards, part MDS (My Digital Studio) - don't forget you can get a free 30 day trial, part stamping so I thought it would be fun to do one for Spring Fling.  I love the Doily stamp and you can get it as a download, and I love the new Tea Shoppe set and it is also available as a download, so that is what I did.

I designed the front of the card and then sent it off to the printers so the cover was on the inside too.  I have a video that explains what I am talking about, it shows a different card but is the same set up. Then when the card comes you cut, layer and add your embellishments.

Wanna see all the fun stuff about it?

Here's the cover, we will add the real pleated ribbon even though I have faux ribbon printed on the card.

024 copy
When you open the card there is a cute tea cup with a teabag sticking out of it.  The little MDS piece on the bottom is actually part of the front panel that we trimmed off to layer on the cardstock. Waste not, want not. To make the tea bag check out this older post.

See the teacup sits up when you open the card.

It's just glued on the little box thing we will make. The teacup is actually made in MDS too, I just blew them up and sent that off to the printer too. So cute eh?

We picked up my BFF Tracy at the airport tonight and she is whooped she had a long day, so she is in bed already, I am double and triple checking that I have everything packed so I can go to bed not too late myself.

I'll be back the next few days to show you the rest of the make n takes ok?

Have an awesome Saturday and thanks for stopping in.
