Yes, Eric turns 23 today, what the heck? Geesh I was 23 when I had him.
It does not seem that long ago that he was:
a baby…
…so I said "Eric let me take your picture for my blog" and this is the look I got. He was getting his shoes on to go to the football game with his Dad.
So Jeff said "smile Eric or we won't go"
So this is better, look at that danged beard, he won't shave it, we think he wants to be Dumbledore. At least we got him to shave the sides of his face. Happy Birthday Hairy, I mean Eric. We love you!
So the guys went outside and I said "hey let me take a picture of you together" Aren't my two men handsome? Cause Eric ain't a baby or a little boy anymore. Although he will be to me. We had his yearly IEP the other day, and one of our goals is to get him where he can move into a group home. If you are new to my blog, Eric is learning disabled and he also has apraxia so he won't be able to live by himself. So whenever we talk about him moving out, I get excited sometimes only cause I think , wow that means the guest bathroom will stay cleaner longer than a few hours, or I'll get up and all the left overs in the fridge will not be eaten all up, or I'll look in the freezer and not find empty ice cream bar boxes, but then I also think, oh my gosh, what if someone takes advantage of him, what if someone hurts him, and I get so scared, and think…well maybe pee on the toilet seat is not that bad…well unless I sit in it….ewwww grossss…..but you know what I mean. I guess all Mother's go through it, but with Eric he trusts everybody, and even though we try to teach him to be cautious he still thinks he is invinsible.
OK enough of my blabbering and blubbering.
Wanna hear something funny? So the guys are at the football game I ran over to Kohls and Steinmart to pick the guys up some clothes and I figured I'd go through the McDonalds drive thru. It is starting to get dark so I pull in and stop at what I think is the speaker dealie, and I almost….almost started to give my order…to the garbage can. Thank goodness I noticed it was not lit up and the menu was up further or I swear I would have shouted into it. Hello, Hello…..
Well I am gonna sign off and head to bed, I have stamp club tomorrow.
Have an awesome Saturday and thanks for stopping in.
Your boys are looking handsome! Time sure does fly doesn't it? My baby turned 31 this month, AAACK! Your McD's story had me giggling! Have fun at club and so wish I was going to be there too!
OH MY GOSH – 23 already! Time certainly does fly. Give him a big kiss and a hug from Aunt Jacqui. Oh yeah tell him the time of Dumbledore is over. The last movie is done!!!
Luv ya Jax
Tell your son Happy Birthday! You know I was talking about our similarities a few comments ago, and guess what? My son's name is Eric also and he celebrated his 32nd birthday on Oct. 20th! WOnders cease to amaze me.
I saw where that show you were talking about starts on Sunday night, Once Upon a Time…looks very interesting.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
Where do the years go – In a heartbeat our children go from babies to grown adults! We have done our job when our children grow up to be happy – honest and trusting adults….I think you have done your job Di……WELL DONE! Thanks for sharing not only the pics but a little bit more about your lovely family. (and I have to tell you – I've done the yell into the garbage can thinking it's a speaker number!)
Diana OMGosh you made me laugh so hard about the garbage can I almost peed myself…You must be soooooooo fun to hang out with. Love reading your blog. Only 4 more weeks until the new twilight movie huh?
LOVE your sense of humor Diana!!! I always enjoy reading your blog each day. Some days I so related. I will be praying for Eric and the decision you have to make concerning his future. I know it must not be easy.
Thanks for making me laugh!

Oh my goodness… I just LOVE reading your blog. You always make me laugh out loud! You know, they really should light those drive-thru's up earlier for us vision impaired people talking to trash cans… lol!
Have a great day!
How the heck did that happen? He is 23. WOW. Happy (late) birthday to you Eric. Roscoe said he would be happy to share a bone with you for your birthday. What? You don't want it? He can't imagine this. OK you got a loud laugh from me about the McDonald's story. Maybe it is time to get your eyes checked?
Carey and Roscoe
Oh Diana, I am so there with you about the leftovers and the boxes left with nothing in them. Being a mom of 2 boys (21 and 17) It just frustrates me but then I think these are moments that I cannot get back so I just ride the ride and laugh. Your son reminds me so much of my Kyle (that dang beard or gotee) We have what is called ONLY ON MY FACE OCTOBER and now we will have NO SHAVE NOVEMBER. Thanks for the chuckle regarding McDonalds (Been there tooo)
Wow time flies! My DD is 26 and Jeff's son will be 26 next month too. I can't believe that either. Eric looks good with the Goatee. Isn't it funny that our children grow taller than us hehehe. You wouldn't be a loving mother if you didn't worry my friend!
My 23 year old still pees on the seat too…haaaa!Empty fridge?…yep….hairy chin?…yep…..
Has his own place but ya wouldn't know it…haaa!
We will always worry about our boys, whatever their age or capabilities….comes with the Mum Territory….sigh.
Handsome men in your family, sweetie!
Oh you make me laugh about the garbage can. I can relate.
I can relate to the things Eric does too, those things happen at our house all the time.
I did not know Eric about Eric. I majored in Special Ed. He looks like a sweetie. I hope he can stay with you. I love the photo of Jeff and his son, he looks so proud.
Happy Birthday, Eric, hope you had a great one! I am sure your wonderful mom made it very special!!
Is Eric planning to become an Amish man? lol He's sure got a good start of the beard going on.
Another thing we have in common besides stampin… my son turned 23 in Aug. and I was 23 when I had him, too. And, don't you have a birthday coming up, too? 🙂 Love the cards, love the stories, love your blog!!! Thanks for sharing!!
