Date Night

This 'n' That

22 Sep

006 copy

On a Wednesday?  Well Eric went to the ballgame and it was the Wine dinner over at the Deli, so I said to Jeff "wanna go?" and he said "yes". We'd never done the wine dinner before, but my friend Penny (Hi Penny) said it is awesome. I guess the Surf & Turf night is good too.

When you eat there at night they always bring out a flat bread and a brushetta (I think it is called) as an appetizer…I love it. In fact when my BFF Tracy was here she bought like a container of it.

Here is the Wine Dinner Menu

First Course: Baby Meatballs of Chicken & Pork in a Rosemary, White Wine Broth with Roasted Garlic Crostini – Simple Life Chardonnay, California was the wine pairing

003 copy
This was so good!!

Second Course: Roasted Beets & House made Mozzarella over Baby Greens with a Citrus Basil Vinaigrette – Simple Life Pinot Noir, California was the wine pairing

We love beets and had never had yellow ones or had them roasted, we usually just have them pickled and the red ones.

Third Course: Pan Roasted Halibut with Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, Sweet Corn, Crispy Bacon & Ditalini Pasta tossed in a Marsala Butter Sauce – Lot 205 Petite Sirah, California was the wine pairing.

It was so delicious,  I think Jeff's eyes rolled back into his head when he took his first bite, but he was on his third glass of wine. I could have eaten just the pasta, mushrooms & corn. I felt like a judge on the food network, I was telling Jeff I loved the sweet crunch of the corn with the softness of the pasta and the mushrooms. 100 points and 2 thumbs up!!

Here's Jeff enjoying one of his glasses of wine.  He did the wine pairing, I don't like wine, I tried a reisling and Jeff drank it I think, I only took a few sips.  It all seems bitter to me, like beer, blech!  I enjoyed my iced tea, they make a great one, I think it's passion fruit.

We shared a piece of carrot cake. I can not go to the Deli without getting the carrot cake, it is so good.  They actually know I like it cold, the icing I could get it in a vat and eat my way out.

You wanna see the best waitress and waiter ever?

This is Brandon & his sister Sarah.  They are super cute.  In fact the first time I met Brandon, he said his name was Randall. Seems that someone misheard him one time and he just said that was his name when anyone asked and finally he corrected it later, that was too funny. I think that was the same day I found out the two of them were brother and sister.

If you are ever over in the Queen Creek area, you should really head over to the Deli, it is family owned (in fact Blake the owner always stops by the tables and says hi). It's a husband, wife, a brother, sister and a Dad & Mum that run the place.  I wonder at times if they wish they had a bigger place, although I think since they opened up Poppy's Place next door it gives them more room for diners.

So did you watch the new show Revenge? It looks good eh?  I loved the main actress when she was on Brother's & Sisters.

I wanted to show another card from my 10/10/20 Christmas card class.

It was based on this card that my girlfriend Rhonda gave me.

I turned it on it's side, changed the embossing folder and did it this way.

I love how this stamp set makes it look like snow on the pine cones.

Don't you love the new quilted ribbon? I love that bit of added texture, you don't even need to tie it.

Howdy stranger! Your dinner sounds fantastic! And I totally agree with you on the wine and beer thing. Alcohol just reminds me of all the yucky liquid medicine I had to take as a kid! I'll take a nice glass of iced tea any day!!! (I don't think there are many of us around…I always seem to be the weirdo among my friends) 🙂 Your card is gorgeous!

Yum, it is amazing that a deli has such great food and so sophisticated. Did you have to take notes?

Oh my, now I'm starving for a great meal (and the wines!) like the one you shared the pics of…at a Deli???!!! Amazing! Both cards are wonderful and how fun to make your own version from your friend's card.

Wow, I am behind! Great food for a deli! I don't care for wine, either. Great card. I can see this little pine cone in the sweet treat cups with some "snow" to shake around.

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
