Repo Man

This 'n' That

23 Jun

005 copy

So tonight after dinner some guy shows up at the door looking for some person we don't know so they can reposess a car.  Jeff was out there gabbing for the longest time and I don't know if the guy didn't believe him or what, but then Jeff comes in the house and yells "come here and clear this up".  So I looked at the guy's paperwork and they have someone's name, and the only thing I recognize is the last name Gibbs, everything else is I don't have a clue.  Since the guy was having trouble finding the person, the bank said we were relatives, he says he has a system that he puts social security numbers in and relatives come up.  So I told him well his system is not accurate cause we had never heard of this person.

Before he left he says "here's my card in case you hear anything", and I'm thinking like what all of a sudden out of the blue we are going to hear about some stranger?  He even wanted to walk around the property to look for this car.  So Jeff walked him around.  I say it was very weird, and I would not want his job, he said one guy tried to shoot him tonight.  I much prefer to stamp in the safety of my home.

So as I stamped today, without the danger of being shot at, I finished my GoDiva swaps and they are all ready to go in the mail tomorrow, I'll show you a little sneak peek…

006 copy
…you'll have to check back tomorrow to see the whole card.

But I will show you the last of the 10/10/20 Masculine cards.  This is from a set that is retiring, so if you want a fun set that has lots of great images for all sorts of occasions this one is it.

I'm glad your honey was home with you, that would have had me needing to change my pants!:-) Do you do your own swaps for convention or do you not swap? I saw someplace that one demo has people do them for her. I'm still trying to come up with an idea, it's getting there, I don't want to copy anyone else so it's a struggle….and i want to have them done before I leave! Well, night to you, be safe and I am looking forward to you card!! Deb

Did you consider this guy might have been casing your house? I would report to police.

I had a similar situation recently. The repo guy mispronounced our last name when he asked for the person he was looking for. So when I corrected him on "our" last name, and then told him that a person by that name didn't live here, he told me (very snottily, I might add), "So how do you know that we pronounced the last name wrong?" WTH! His partner was in the tow truck shining a light into our house/garage windows to boot. I know they have a tough job, but they cross too many boundaries! Glad you were left in peace in the end and that your man was there.

That is so weird! Your story was so funny though-definitely keep stamping without the risk of being shot! That would be my choice too. LOL

That is kind of scarey. We have this company that calls us about every every three months looking for a person that gave our phone number as hers. Nope, that isn't us. Do you know someone with that name? No, we still haven't met her from the last time you called and the time before that, and the time before that. They have been calling us for about 4 years and just can't get it that we don't know this person. On a fun note-I finished stamping, coloring, cutting and punching my swap cards for convention today. Now I just have to put them all together. I am getting so doggone excited for convention again.

    Diane,

I would suggest if this ever happens again that you call the Police immediately. You have rights and that person had no right making you take him throughout your property! I know that a lot of these people are unsavory people. I use to work in the Finance/Mortgage company and there are laws that govern their behavior. Also, just a suggestion… you may want to pull your free annual credit report to just see if there is anything showing up under your name. There is no data base that pulls social security numbers of people that are related to you. That is confidential information and the guy was lying. Most of these companies can do is call other creditors and ask if they have any additional information on their files. Be careful and be wary…

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
