…I am more calmed down now, and have appreciated all the emails. Heck you would think that it was me voted off the way I reacted to the show.
I loved the emails that said "Kris Allen who? Taylor Hicks who?" cause that is so true, these guys won and you never hear anything about them. OMG! Someone even called while we were still watching the show, we are on the west coast and see it three hours later then the east coasters, and luckily I didn't answer it and it went to the machine. After I went to bed I remembered someone called and listened to the message and Connie was calling to console me…what a sweetie…but so glad I didn't hear it till later.
After I slept on it, I realized if I stamp my feet like a spoiled brat and pout and say I am not watching it anymore, I won't be any better then Haley with her attitude when the judges tell her for the hundredth time to pick a style and stick with it. So I think I will probably tune in next week as I get ready for our trip so I can vote for the rest of my favorites, Lauren and Scotty need to be the last two, but I won't stress about not being able to see it on the cruise.
So, I will most likely (although Rhonda says I am missing an excellent season of Vampire Diaries) watch it next week.
I do believe that this season was played not right and that things were done and said to make me not know if I will watch next season. They were telling us people were in the bottom three only to find out later that they were not. How does that make us voting even fair to that person?
I now think that I am glad that James did not win because now he can record what he wants with who he wants and he will not have to bow down to what the American Idol people want him to do. He tweeted that he is fine, plus with Youtube I can watch and listen to James sing all day if I want until his CD comes out.
Don't miss Jay Leno tonight as James will be on and then Monday he is on Regis & Kelly.
OK so since I was in shock last night, in fact I just did my post and went to bed, I didn't even watch my other shows. I just wanted to read and get some sleep. I know get a life Di…ha!
So here is my opinion of the show in general:
When they said that Lauren was the first one safe, I was so happy and sure that James and Scotty would be too. I teared up a bit so happy for her.
Enrique Iglesius sang a couple songs and I always wonder when they sing really close to the mike so you can't read their lips if they are lip singing. He did this. Makes deaf people like me have a hard time understanding the lyrics.
Jordin Sparks our Arizona Idol sang and holy moly, she sang I am Woman, and yes-siree, she really has become a woman, she has truly blossomed, and I think she had my eclipse shoes on…ha!
They also showed a Steven Tyler video…so this year has been odd, videos by J-Lo, video by Steven, a book by Steven, makes ya wonder who they were marketing, the Idols or the judges? Just sayin' that's all.
They also showed Lady Gaga singing, and it was taped or live, or whatever, she was not there at any rate, and she sang the song I think that she wiped out and fell off the stool under the piano on, and apparently they must have nailed down the stool cause she still stood up and all that but with no falling. I was almost hoping to see what get up she would be wearing on stage, but this was almost tame. Goldie lock hair, black fishnet stocking, and a black bikini kinda thing. Like my little sister Jax said if she had her figure she'd dress like that too….hmmm…maybe I would too, only to do housecleaning but that is it. Ha!
So then they said Haley was safe and I was almost sick to my stomach. Jeff said he was headed to bed, cause he was sure Scotty was going home. So then after about 100 commercials it came back on and they dropped the bomb shell of James going home. I cried a lot… Lauren and Scotty were upset, and Haley almost had a smirk on her face. So James sang one last song for us, kissed his wife in the crowd and I just know he is going to be a major star. I stuck my head in the bedroom, and told Jeff "James is going home, bleep! bleep! bleepity bleep! American Idol bleeps!". There ya have it, my thoughts in a nutshell and a half.
Thanks for listening to my opinions and I sure am enjoying your comments and your emails.
Big hugs, Di
You were absolutely the FIRST PERSON I thought of when they announced him leaving last night. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!
I quit *caring* who won when my guy went home. I knew he wouldn't win, but I sure loved to watch him wiggle around the stage. LOL!!
Plus, we've ALL known James was going to win. For WEEKS now.
I'll quit watching now that James is gone. I feel bad. I did not vote for him this week. Don't be mad at me Di, but I voted for Haley! 4 times! The judges were SO mean to her this week. And in my opinion, this was her BEST week. The way they had all 4 standing there and Randy said basically well – everyone is "in it to win it, except Haley." WTF?! How demeaning was that?! Who does he think HE is?
I can't stand Scotty either. If I close my eyes and DONT WATCH, he's fine. But he just creeps me out. Im sorry, its NOT just a singing competition – its supposed to be the WHOLE PACKAGE. The "IDOL". He just creeps me out. Voice OK (not great. Not original at all, and NO where near James). Everything else – NOT OK.
Lauren, I don't get the love. She looks nice but sings off key and has flat notes – EVERY WEEK. I think with more experience she will be able to conquer her nerves, because she can sing on that Martina McBride level (sometimes). But an "Idol". NO WAY, not even close.
Haley, not consistent. I can not wait for her to get another 10 years experience under her belt. She's too green, and needs to figure out her niche, and how to effectively control that growl. However, she did not deserve to be cut apart like she was this week. I loved both her performances, and "I WHO HAVE NOTHING" is one of my FAVORITE songs. EVER. I stood up and applauded for her, because she totally made me cry. Lots of times when we hear our favorite songs on these shows, we (or atleast I) hate them. Because they change them or are not as good as the song deserves. Her version of it was fantastic, goosebumps, tear in my eyes good.
None of the three left deserve top three. James, Pia, and Casey should be the top three this season. Hands down. Like you said: atleast they aren't tied to the AI contract and can sign with whoever they want now!
I wonder how much this new "internet voting" effecting the results this season. Computer voting is SO EASY to tamper with, kwim? I'm not saying anyone did, I'm just saying with trying new technology for the first time, mistakes and (loopholes) are bound to happen.
I said on twitter "I guess there will be only 4 people watching the finale this season" haha. How funny would that be?! hahahaha….
Di,
Love Idol, always have, I too agree that the judges tend to sway the audience with things they say that seem not right….but James will be better off. I really do like him but wish he would not scream in EVERY SINGLE SONG. Glad you are calmed down and I hope you enjoy the cruise, been there and would love to cruise back someday.
You were the first person I thought about when I saw the show, I too wanted the top 3 to be Lauren, Scotty and James. With his exposure I'm sure he will do something great, this was the same week Daughtry went home. Keep smiling!
Hi Di
I love reading your blog and know how much you love James – as I do – and last night i couldn't watch it until the last part when i saw James hugging the other singers and i couldn't believe it. My next thought was, oh my, what is Di going to say? You are right, i think James will be better off now that he doesn't have to do all that promoting for a whole year for American Idol. I bet he's been offered record deals already. Anyway, i am going to watch last nights Idol that i taped because i want to see him one more time. I just love him! Take care, Di. Genie in Florida
OMG. As you know I don't rally watch this show consistently. I follow it through your blog. I am working on Wed and Th nights most of the time. I was in a patient's room when it was announced that James was going home. I whipped around and looked at the TV. I just looked at the parent's of the kid- "Did they just send James home?" My thoughts were of you- Oh Di will be crushed and devastated. Well hugs to you honey. I also think he will go far when I heard him singing. We can buy his music together in seperate areas of the country- how funny does that sound. Anyway I hope you are recovering today and hope your weekend is stress free. Do a lot of Toby time to try and feel better.
Carey and Roscoe
I've been surprised every week Haley stayed on… then I remember, just because she's not my style doesn't mean others don't like the voice that sounds like she has a cold!
I was SHOCKED that James went home but I believe, like you, that he will go far!
Now, who will it be?? I say Scotty or Lauren but with Haley beating James…I just don't know. Wondering if it is rigged so these 3 can get on with their careers earlier than the Idol winner?? Hmmmm
Sorry to hear your favorite idol didn't make it through. The way you are feeling is exactly why I haven't watched a minute of AI since the night Chris Daughtry was voted off. I appreciated you posting the videos on an earlier post, I watched a little bit of each and you are right, he is a really good singer.. and I think like Chris he will have much success.
Well you got my e-mail so you know how I feel. I am still stunned at the turn of events! I agree with Bunny…Scott gives me the creeps..the hair on my neck stand on end…something does not feel right about him. Time will tell.
Hayley, attitude sucks but I think she has the best of the voices left.
Lauren, a sweetie but needs to mature a bit.
Do I care anymore? Nope!
I so loved your post.. I agree with you.. right now, I don't care if Haley wins or not.. I love James and Lauren the best. I wanted Haley gone when they were the top 10. She is a smug little wench. period. Lauren is just adorable and has done an awesome job for her age and I think she will go a long way. Scotty although he has a wonderful voice has this MIKE thing that makes it hard for me to watch him perform.. he either holds it like a flute or continuously switches hands with it.. Let Haley become the IDOL and disappear with all the others.. good luck to Lauren and best of luck to James.. cannot wait for his first CD!!
I was hoping it was Haley leaving not James … she's not consistent and I just don't like her. But, hey, I'm Canadian and can't vote anyway! Hee Hee!!
My personal fav is Lauren but I figured that James would win as he is the consummate performer. singer and all round great guy. My hubs said that perhaps it was rigged by a producer that didn't want James stuck in a contract with American Idol.
Oh well, apparentyl the American public voted and I'm guessing from the series history, many who vote don't have a clue about vocal talent. They base their votes on whom they like, not who can sing well.
But, I'll still watch. Whether I watch next year or not, who knows …
Di, I did not get to comment on Am. Idol because I have been at a stamp retreat! I did watch and I, too, was so shocked to see our favorite leave, but you know this is probably for the best for him in his career because he will not be obligated to the Am. Idol's restrictions. I know he will be a great success in the singing world. I so hate that Haley made the top 3 over James? What's up w/that? I was so excited that Lauren and Scotty made it though…have a wonderful weekend, gf!
Hi Diana,
I just read your blog post about AI – I completely agree with you. In fact as I sat there crying along with James I thought "well at least I'll have some extra time on Wednesday and Thursday nights" because I won't be watching AI now that James is gone. First Paul, then Casey and now James – I'm done!
I agree with Bunny about Scotty – I can't watch him perform. THere is definitely something creepy about that kid – it's his eyes. He is a one trick pony – he's good at the trick but it's not enough. He basically dismissed Lady Gaga on that show as if to say "what does she know" which I thought was pretty arrogant.
James will have a career and a good one I think – he has a good work ethic and a passion for his music and his family.
Phew…thanks for letting me vent. Up until now I was only venting with my Canadian FB friends. LOL
At least Rob won Survivor and my Vancouver Canucks are in the Stanley Cup Conference finals (I know you are a Canadian so "get this") so the week wasn't a total loss. LOL
