Jeff had his annual charity rodeo today, in Phoenix, way up in Phoenix, and I didn't want to go. Bad eh? I was gonna go but Jeff was in one event, and it was early on and it was gonna be hot and well I wanted to do other things. So I dropped Eric off early at Jeff's work so they could drive on from there. Then I headed home. I am glad I didn't go, a few hours after I got home, Jeff called and they didn't even get a time, so it was just as well I stayed home, he was headed back.
I have plans, hopefully plans that will work out, to do an overhaul of my stamp room, it is time, (that's why I have been picking up different things lately for my studio, for the "New/Old look") I have had the same stuff since we first did the room (what 7 or more years ago??) except for the odd this or that piece of furniture I pick up here and there to put this or that in, and it just aint working anymore. So Jeff helped me figure out the grid sheet thing (thanks Ellie for that tip). Then I needed to measure and see where everything is and figure out what I would like.
My niece Lauren came over this afternoon (she was gonna go to the rodeo too, so she stayed home and studied instead and came over later),and she helped with the tape measuring. Do you deduct two inches when you wrap the tape measure around something that is in the way in in the middle of the room? Hmm, I don't think that is what Holmes on Homes does, or David from Color Splash, but when David takes his shirt off he can be doing anything and I would not even see past the tattoos and muscles…well it's the truth. I told Lauren we should be taping us to see if anyone would hire us…ha! Not!
So with trusty grid sheet plans in hand off we went to IKEA. I don't know it that is where I will get stuff (although I found stuff I like – any tips or opinions to any of you that have IKEA stuff for your stamp room???), or Home Depot, or Lowe's or have someone private do it. But anyway I wanted to see what was out there. I am not a big IKEA store fan, it is too confusing, and the whole cart and the bag, and how do I get up the escalator with a cart? and all that, blech!
So we get to the kitchen cabinet section and I find one I like and I go over to the planner people, and I show my grid sheet to a guy and he was like "hold on a second", and he hands us off to a lady. Then she takes us over to the computer and she makes ME!…yeah ME! do it. Put in the room dimensions, where the doors are etc. I am like are you freaking kidding me? We would have been done in no time if she had of done it, and now she says "you need to pick this panel and that panel". I just want a freakin' cabinet…OMG! I finally was like "can I do this at home?" and she was like "yes" and I am like "ok I will do it at home!" My back was killing me from standing there. She was super sweet and explained she was not even supposed to be helping as much as she was, and I am like in my head saying "you want me to buy stuff right? then someone needs to be helping better then this for pete's sake!" So anyway, I was a little hungry so maybe that is why I was aggravated, but it was very weird. When I go to Home Depot with my grid sheet they better be more helpful.
So anywhoo, I am going to share an awesome swap card I got and it is awesome cause it is amazingly laid out and all the little touches, but that dang bench sure could have been useful 3 hours into IKEA…I'm just saying.
This is a card made by Cindy Westerink, and I know you are going to love it! Thanks Cindy!

To earn a ticket to win these sets all you need to do is place an on-line order in my store from November 1 – November 30. Place two orders, get two tickets and so on…it's that simple. My online store is open 24-7, and you can find it here! Please make sure to log in as a new customer each time even if you have ordered from me before (this will prevent any cookie problems). I will pick the winning ticket on December 1. This special is from me only and not Stampin' Up!
Well I am gonna sign off, you would not believe how messy my studio is, egads! I took a picture, but I am too embarrassed to show you, with all the antique shopping and rearranging stuff, it's a sty.
Have an awesome Sunday and thanks for stopping in!
3 HRS in IKEA!!!!
We have an Ikea here too, thought they might av been a bit more helpful, after all it's their goods you are purchasing! They should be bending backwards for ya!
Funny thing is, when me & mum pop over to Ikea, we get fab ideas, but always walk out with scented candles followed by one of their hotdogs Lol
Lets hope you sort out your dimensions soon & get that room just how you want it xx
I am in the process of redoing my room too. Nothing real elaborate. Just from the kitchen corner to a room of my own. I've started arranging and putting my card making stuff in where I want it. I'm just waiting for hubby to move the rest of his stuff out….only been a week of nagging….not done it yet. lol I think it might stay 3/4 done unless I nag the hell out of him again 🙂
I stopped yesterday at 2 used stores and in one I found a cute little 3 shelf stand for $3. I may eventually paint it, but it's ok for right now. I bought 3 wicker basket's to set on the shelves and it is now functional and cute. The basket's were only $2.98 each so it was economical too.
Love the card too. Very nice. I may have to try this one myself. Have a great Sunday
I totally agree with you about Ikea not being enough help. My former upline did her whole room out of Ikea, but for health reasons she has closed her blog that had pictures of how she did the room. Oh, well. You just have to know what size cabinets you want and what kind of tables before you go there.
I love your 'tude! David and Holmes, well, that's a toss up, love 'em both. Ikea — too much walking, not enough help, plus you have to learn their way to shop (Panel by panel? Huh?). Yes, everything old is new again, and will look great in your re-done stamping room. Thank you for sharing!
WOW! Cards, rodeo, antiques and talk of David of the tats and muscles. I am just loving it around here!!!
