That is what I keep telling myself, but I keep making more. I finally put all my supplies away…but I am now thinking how cute some Christmas ones will be. I need to find a Christmas tree, and oh how about an Easter tree…so fun!
Yesterday I showed you the cone the girls did at the Love Letter DSP and Chunky Frame class this weekend. It is the size that Kimberly Van Diepen shows you in this video. Kimberly has a bigger Halloween tree then I have so I had to make mine smaller. The ones I did started out with a 4"x4" inch piece of DSP and then you cut it in half on the diagonal so you have a triangle shape.
Here are the ones I did, they are so addictive. How cute would these be decorated with Christmas DSP on a Christmas tree like an advent calendar, you could date each one and the child could pick one each day. Then pack them away and use them every year, or if you have a Christmas party each person could take one home with them.
By cutting the striped grosgrain in half (another trick of Kimberly's – thanks!!) it makes it fray. Cool eh?
By making the ornaments smaller I had to be careful my stamped image or embellishment was not too big.
I'm not a spider fan, but this one looks pretty cool on the cone. Living in AZ we see too many real ones for my taste.
I love this one, and so would MAMMa, look at all the bling!!
This one is too cute, the poor little witch is stuck inside the cone. Ha!
It's hard to see in the picture, it looks cooler in real life, but see all the strings? That is actually the string that comes out of the striped ribbon when you fray it. I just draped it on the tree so it looks like cobwebs. Nothing gets wasted. Ha!

posted this question in the wrong place, initially…regarding your post from today (Oct 18)…do you have a tutorial showing how you create that effect with the ribbon, in a ruffly fashion? is it just stuck on with glue or with tape? and if tape, what type?
Thanks!!
These are just too dang cute. Love the idea for all the different trees for each season. I'll have to look around for a tree, or two or three, (lol )while I'm out today. Especially love the spider and gem cones, although I'm not a fan of anything furry and crawling either.
Thanks for sharing Kimberly's video tute. Gotta try these for Christmas. TYFS
Great job! I love it. I put up a Christmas. Now I am going to have to find a Halloween and another Easter tree. We threw away the Easter tree when we moved. Love, love, love what you have done.
