I Got a Frog…

3-D Items

29 Oct

…not in my throat

…not on my back porch

…not sitting on my palm wanting a kiss to be turned into a prince

I got this kind of frog…

DSCN2873 copy
Well actually I got two of them.  I think they are really for flower arrangements but I see stampers using them to hold their cards up to take a picture, and when you are trying to take a picture of a card front this will make it so much easier. Usually I will try to prop it against something. So I am so happy I got me some frogs…ribbit! The picture shows how rusty they look, I need to clean them, will have to figure out how to do it without making them worse.

Added: sorry I should have said where I got them.  I actually won the bid on ebay, I just searched for metal flower frogs, and these looked nice and not all crooked, you have to make sure (thanks for my BFF Tracy for telling me) that the teeth have like straight spaces so you can put the card in, otherwise the card won't fit inside cause the teeth are in the way.

I wanted to share one of my favorite swap cards from Founder's Circle, well there were a lot of favorites, but I gotta show this one with Halloween almost here.

This awesome card was made by Deb Valder, she did such an amazing job.

Look at all the details, the spider web embossing folder, the chunky black glitter, the rhinestone bling and the amazing folded flower embellishment in the center.

Thanks Deb for all the work you did on your swap. I love it!

Did you see it? Well you probably didn't if you get my blog feed in your email box, or if you read it in a reader, you have to go to my blog to see it.  I played around with My Digital Studio and changed my blog header, and my signature too.  Too fun! Do you like it? It is not super fancy, I really like the plain, white, kinda clean look of my blog without too much craziness going on…well other then my life, but you know what I mean.

Well I will be sharing more of my Founder's swap cards over the next couple days or so.

Have an awesome Friday and thanks for stopping in!

Signature white 5

This is a lovely card (not too scary) Lol.

I think that thing you have used to stand your card up is for …. gettiing knots out of your hair, to make it ultra smooth, (a hair brush). I may be totally wrong, but sure i've seen something like that on a tv advert!!
Anyway, i'm gonna look for one too, it's perfect xx

Love love love the new blog header. I need to change mine but will have to wait for a few weeks. The card is very cool. I tried to make that accordian fold and wasn't too successful. I'm sure if I took the time and practiced I might get it. Yay it's Friday! Have a good weekend Di.

    Diana,

Yes, these are "frogs" and are used in floral arrangements. I have 2 that were my grandmothers. Since they are metal, you could spray them with Rustoleum paint to cover up the cover rust and prevent further rusting. The paint is available at Lowe's & Home Depot and comes in many colors. It is in a spray can.

I have metal and porcelain/pottery frogs. The metal ones have spikes, the other style has holes that the stems fit into. You'll love them for arranging flowers too.

Di: I say leave the "frogs" as they are…..The weathered look only adds to the beauty of the "frog". I have a couple "frogs" and LOVE LOVE LOVE how they help me hold up my cards and also allows me to display my cards in my studio. Thanks for Sharing!

I've seen this little stand in many of the blogs but have no idea where to get them. Can you share where you get it and where to look for in that store? Thanks much.

I noticed your blog header yesterday mostly because of the pic of Toby. I didn't really see the pic of the girls. Wow that is some family you have. Are the boys upset because they aren't included? The Halloween card is great that you got from Frounder's Circle. It kind of looks like one I made for Halloween except it is about 10x better. I didn't get the Spider Web embossing folder. I couldn't think of anything I would do with it after Halloween is over. I don't send out a lot of Halloween cards. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

I must really like you to be posting a comment using my DH's craptop sitting in a hotel with no mouse! I hate that little flat thingy with the two buttons on the bottom! Never knew florists called those doodads "frogs!" I have a plain, clear plastic plate holder to hold up my cards for pictures. I like your frogs better, but they would prolly give me tetanus!

Did take my computer a while to load as well, but don't judge that issue by my computer!!

My mother had all sizes and shapes of frogs when I was little. I ended up with 2 of them, but haven't a clue where they are. In the garage, I suppose, stuck down inside of something.

Like your new design here. Vintage dress form, your cute girls, Santa,Toby and any girl will love Paris!!! Not sure about the signature, it lookes a little chubby. But chubby is cute, right??? LOL It'll grown on me.
