Dot to Dot too many Dots

This 'n' That

15 Jun

Do you ever do something, think hey that is cute then you take the picture and go…hmmm…well? ugh!  That is what I did with this card, I loved stamping the dot to dot stamp with craft white on the red satin ribbon to give it polka dots, but when I took the pictures I realized it was too many dots and I should have used plain ribbon.

I was going to re-do it, but I thought today's lesson would be "know when to say enough" and "when less is more".

Then the dang camera was being a pooper, and my colors were getting all washed out no matter where I put the lamp, so I finally had to lay it down.  I got this layout from a magazine, and just made it with Stampin' Up! products.  They did not use polka dotted ribbon, they used stitched ribbon instead with a button. Another lesson is "no when not to tweak"…ha! 3 lessons in one today.

This is what I used:

Stamp Set: Dot to Dot, Baroque Motif, Friends 24-7

Paper: Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade, Real Red

Ink: White Craft, Jetblack Stazon, Poppy Parade

Misc: Scallop border punch, Red Satin ribbon

Well it's late and my OCD is screaming "change the ribbon!, change the ribbon!", so I will do that before I head to bed…I think I am gonna use white.

Have an awesome Tuesday and thanks so much for stopping in!

I still like it – dots and all!

At least you are brave enough to post this card even though it's not that bad. Mine usually just end up in the trash!!! I hate when the colors don't show up right in the camera shot. I want to scream to everyone that it is so much better in person. Some people though have cards that always turn out perfecto! Not me. I can't complain about yours though. They always look good. Okay maybe this one is not your best but I wouldn't turn it down! Rambling Giblet.

You do such great work! Thanks for sharing with us–I'm sure it makes lots of us feel better to know you guys have "off" days, too! I love the color combo together and the style of the card. Hope you liked it better once you switched the riboon. ! 🙂

I think it might work if the ribbon was on the other side of the card. That might make it balance better. It is so nice to see that goddess' like you can make mistaks like us humans.

I love the layout! I have used it so many times, when I saw it in the magazine I had to use it. As for the camera, I discovered that mine didn't like pink/red colors, it messed them up (washed them out)…But I got a light tent, and so far it works fine with the red/pink colors.

The lessons I learned today were these
#1. I like the Dot to Dot stamp!
#2. I didn't know you could stamp the satin ribbon with White Craft Ink 🙂 Great idea!
#3 I like the Baroque Motif & Friends 24-7 together
#4 Use one stamp set in white craft and the other in Versamark or the same color ink as your paper creates a nice depth effect.
All in all I learned a lot today thanks Di!

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
