Going Green

This 'n' That

Garden from the heart closeup

I saw a card, and now I can't find it, but I think it was by Debbie Olson, and she used a piece of cardboard cut out with the Top Note and I was like…brilliant!  I have a swap with the other 8 Artisan award winners, and we are doing a set out of the mini, and I choose Garden from the Heart, and I thought this set would be perfect for that rugged kinda look.

So I cut up some SU! boxes, and ran them through my Big Shot with the Top Note, and voila', some cool texture! I ripped it up a bit and sponged on some color…gotta love keeping those boxes out of the landfill.

Garden from the heart front
Stamp Set: Garden from the Heart

Paper: Vanilla Natural, Taken with Teal, Sweet Pea DSP, Chocolate Chip, cardboard box

Ink: Jetblack Stazon, Sahara Sand, Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Old Olive, Regal Rose

Misc: Twill Tape, Top Note Die, Oval punch, white gel pen

OK, on to American Idol…the chicks…this is my take on tonight:

Crystal: OMG this brought tears to my eyes, cause she is sooo good, and I am so thankful that she is ok and was able to perform, and I hope her illness is behind her. – I think right now she is the one to beat.

Haeley: I was taught if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.

Lacy: She is adorable, and I think she sounded awesome.

Katie: I didn't care for this, and think that she should come back next year, and take some time to grow up some more.

Didi: I loved her choice of songs and her Farrah Fawcett-ish hair-do. The judges were wacked when they critiquing her.

Michelle:  She is so awesome, and I loved her song.  I was not too sure on her outfit, were they calling it a Vera Wang? The poofy white dress, and the half-gloves…whatever…I did however love the nail polish she had on in her interview, I gotta get me some…(note to Mel…well girlfriend when's our Ulta trip??)

Lily: I really like her.  My BFF Tracy, her cutie patootie hubby Steve, and my cutier patootier hubby Jeff, beg to differ…but then this is my blog aint it…(making the sound of a raspberry!!) ha!!

Kaetlyn: She sounded nice with the piano, and I did agree the song was soooo slowwwwww, and her skirts are so higggghhhhhhh.

Paige: She is gorgeous and those eyes, man so cool.  She is a great singer, and think she will be in the top 3 of the girls.

Siobhan: The little freak (and since I am a card carrying member of freak – I can say this) sang pretty good tonight, her clothes however.  When Ellen said something about mixing a blanket and a sweater, I thought she was gonna say, mix a t-shirt and a strapless dress, cause that was odd.

I think this year we have such a diverse group of people, they are not all gorgeous, and they are just like regular people, and definitely are just being themselves…Crystal, Lily, Siobhan are a fine example.

Since I voted for 4 dudes last night, I had to make it even and vote for 4 chicks tonight, and they were: Crystal, Lacy, Michelle and Paige.  Again no order of preference, just order of how they sang.

Other things I noticed tonight:

What is up with Randy's turquoise watch? He has wore it quite a while now, I think Randy needed to take a midol tonight, he was definitely PMSing.

Ellen being moved: I think it is so that Ellen was not the first judge to critique the singers, now that Randy goes first, Ellen kinda has an idea of what to say, not that she always agrees with Randy, but I think it helps her a bit.

The chairs in the audience must be wired up to a shock therapy switch, they all seem to jump up and start clapping at the same time.  I think they need to stay seated personally, sometimes their heads get in the way.  I did notice Big Mike dancing and swaying tonight, he was having a good old time.

OK, that's enough blabbering from me.

Have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping in!

I agree with you on the AI girls with one exception ~ I don't think Lilly can carry a tune in a bucket or else the songs she has chosen have no melody (just my opinion)….Crystal is by far the best of them and I'm unsure who is second on my list. I think Siobhan slayed that song last night and that note she hit was fantastic but boy is she a weird one – I think Simon really has her pegged. As for the guys, for me Big Mike is my pick ~ sorry didn't mean for this to be an epistle. Love your blog, btw!

The cardboard look is kinda cool. I missed AI last night – Joel had a "Mathletics" competition – put on by the Professional Engineering students at the University of Western Ontario….lets just say…we have officially crossed off Professional Engineer as one of his career choices….yikes the questions were waaaaaaaaaaaaay hard.

Love the card!! That is so cool that you used the cardboard and distressed it! Another thing to add to my list to try. My list is getting way too long!

The pink totally adds the right contrast to that rugged look! Keep seeing this set and just love the results; yours is the best. Cutier patootier? You are so politically correct and just make me smile. Thanks for sharing. MJ

I loved Lily, she is interesting and unique and had a really cool performance IMO. I also got a kick out of Siobhan. The girls were definitely much better than the guys. This week is the first time I've watched since early on – not that impressed. Fell asleep tonight and don't know who got the boot. Guess I'll have to read your blog tomorrow to catch up!
