Wacky Day

This 'n' That

2 Feb

So today started pretty normal, got up had breakfast, read emails, started to work on paperwork etc.  Then about noon I was feeling really weird, I had blind spots in my eyes and it felt like the lights were dim.  Even when I looked at myself in the mirror my eyes seemed weird and if I tried to read anything there were parts I could not see. I called the Doc office but they were closed for lunch.

I was feeling nauseous with all this going on, so Toby and I laid down, and I got up before Jeff got home from work.  I took an excedrin and then I called my Doc. They said that I should go right to urgent care especially with the whole eye sight thing.

So Jeff, Eric and I headed into town. They got me right in, took my blood pressure and checked my eyes.  I had my first ever pin prick cause they wanted to check my sugar levels.  Ouch! I feel sorry for anyone that has to do that regularily, that hurt. My sugar level was fine.

The Doc finally came in, he wasn't Dr. Cullen but he was nice anyway.  He asked what I did for a living, and I told him I was a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, and I could not go blind. He said what I was describing sounded like an ocular migraine, and he thinks that when I was in high school and had two strokes that they also sounded like ocular migraines and not a stroke.  They gave me a shot of imitrex and had me lay down for a half hour, I had the nurse tell Jeff and Eric to go get something to eat.  The Doc said I would get a head rush and whew, it sure did make me feel weird.  About half hour later, we headed back home.

I feel better now, vision is getting better, but I am gonna head to bed, and hopefully will be back to normal, well at least my normal, by morning.

I don't have anything to post picture wise, but will definitely find something for you tomorrow!

Have a great Tuesday and thanks for stopping in!

Oh Di! So sorry to hear about your day. Hope today is better. I had to chuckle a little at your expense (sorry) when you said you couldn't go blind because you stamp! I have felt the same way when I had some eye issues or couldn't get up the stairs to my stamp room because of my arthritis. Neither thank God has lasted. It's like what would I do if I couldn't stamp? Hang in there and I know today is going to be better.

See! I could have taken the billing fee for that one!! I'm glad you went in though.
    Imitrex never worked for me.
I use Maxalt – and it works wonders.
I'm glad you are feeling better – those ones can be scary cause you don't know what is going on.

Oh man, Diana, that is NOT fun!! All 3 of my kids have gotten them, but not me. They all started in middle school and do still get them,(sorry) but not very often. They are now 28, 21 and 18. They all agree that it seems to happen when they are dehydrated and drinking a bunch of water helps them alot. Hope this helps! Amie

Wow (i follow your blog because of your way cute projects) I just had to comment about your post. I too lose some of my vision is certain parts of my eye. It's like I can see but I can hold had up and in certain places it would actually disappear. There would be squiggly little lines too. They are so random and nothing in particular seems to bring them on. I ended up in the hospital once too. After MRI and C-scan,(they thought it was stroke too)They all came back negative, and concluded the ocular migraines too. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but find it comforting that I'm not alone with these symptoms. I also noticed once I quite taking Yaz birth control that they stopped completely. Not sure if it's related or not. 🙂

Oh my goodness… I am so sorry that happened to you. I'm glad your gubby was around.
I had the same thing happen to me twice without the headache. It felt like I was looking through a kaleidoscope. Scared the crap outta me. My husband was out of town the first time and the 2nd time I was driving on a rain dark night. I thought my wipers weren't working 🙂
    Glad you're feeling better!

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
