Button Up

This 'n' That

22 Nov

It was a little cold this morning when I got up, so I actually turned the heater on to take off some of the coldness, but it does not need to be on long, it warms up pretty fast come late morning.

I have seen such cute cards around blog-dome using buttons as "things".  So I wanted to use the idea I have seen where the buttons are ornaments.

I used the Lovely as a Tree set for my pine boughs.

Stamp Set: Lovely as a Tree, Tree Trimmings, Christmas Greetings

Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red

Ink: Old Olive, Basic Black

Misc: Playground buttons, Mistletoe ribbon

Cute and easy eh?

I also had someone ask me about the totes I use at class, and I thought I would just take a picture to show you.

Inside here is everything to make this card.  The inks, stamps, mat pack, ribbons etc.  The card is in a clear cello to keep it clean.

So I have the TV on usually when I work mostly for noise, and right now I have Xanadu on, and it is kinda cheesy, but I love the music on it, and I can not get over how much the main guy actor Michael Beck looks like the late Heath Ledger. It is uncanny the resemblance.  Speaking of Heath Ledger I have seen a few times this month while preparing for classes, the movie The First Knight, and that is such a great movie, and sure makes you sad about losing Heath at such a young age, he was a cutie.

OK everyone, here is a little question for you.

What the heck is this?  I am assuming it is some sort of cocoon.  My new camera was being a pain and not wanting me to take a picture of it, it takes pictures a little different then my old one. So this is the best I could do.

This is on the side of the patio pillar.  It looks crystally and hard, not soft like you would think a cocoon is. If anyone knows let me know.

Well I gotta go fix me some supper.

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping in!

Di, that looks like a cicada "skin". They shed them after they come up out of the ground. Kinda creepy, huh? They're also infernally noisy! Not my favorite insect, for sure! :^)

    Love your work!

That coocoon might be an egg case of a preying mantis! Do you see many mantis'es around your area?

Will have to let us know if anything hatches.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that card! I'm going to put in an order for buttons and "borrow" your idea for my Christmas cards if that's okay. It's so gorgeous.

It is an egg case for a praying mantis. This is a good bug so leave it alone. This info is from my DH.
Beautiful card! I like how you used the trees in a different way.

I had never seen Xanadu before, so I had to look up pics of Michael Beck & then Heath Ledger, and WOW! The resemblance IS uncanny! I'm sending you a pic of both side by side….maybe his mom screwed around…..hmmm

OK- Love the button card. NOW,, I am waiting for your comments on the American Music awards, I hope you saw them. I stayed till the bitter end just to see Adam Lambert and all I can say is OMG!!!! I really like him but that was too too much (my age is showing I guess) and let's not even mention Lady Gaga, smashing bottles, glass and having the stuff on fire, what is up with that?

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
