Cute as a Button

One of the stamp sets we got for going to convention was Sweet Season, and it has some cute images in it.

While I was at convention I took tons of pictures of the displays so I could be inspired or gosh copy them exactly for classes and what not.

This one I loved so much and is so cute and simple, I can not remember if it was on a Stampin' Up! board or a general display board, I think it probably was a SU! one since this was one of the sets we got and they like to give us ideas to use.  If not, and this is your card, please let me know so I can give you credit.

Here it is, I think you will love it as much as I do.

DSCN9065 copy Stamp Set: Sweet Season

Paper: Kraft, Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip

Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip marker

Misc: Hearts Set Sizzlit, Wide Oval Punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, paper piercer, mat pack, Playground designer buttons

Tip: thread your buttons with cardstock, just cut a thin strip of cardstock (I used chocolate chip) and thread it through your button, just glue dot it in place...neat eh?

I hope you liked the card as much as me, and it was super fast to make.  Gotta love that eh?

Have a super Wednesday and thanks for stopping in!

Happy Birthday Mum!

Today is my Mum's Birthday! Happy Birthday Mum! I love you! You and Dad need to come to Arizona for a visit, we miss you.  It is so funny, I remember growing up people would ask how old my Mum was, cause she was young when she had me, and she was a hot long haired Mum when I was in school, and a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless, but he knows who he is) had a bit of a crush on her. I would always say 36, but then eventually I turned 36 and I was like wow I am now the age I always said my Mum was. Of course I am much older then 36 now, and some days I feel ancient.

DSCN7809 Here is a picture of my Mum and Dad when I was home in April.

So Jeff went hunting for about 4 or 5 days and got back today, without a deer, but with lots of stories...monster sized skunks, dog sized deer, I was like what the heck were you smoking while you were up there? Ha!

While he was gone he gave Eric chores to do and told him to look after his old Mum, and he was so good he took out the garbage and watered plants, he even (since I am bad about this) put the chip clip on the chip bag...Eric is a lot like me, but so much like his Dad too...it's so funny how that is.

It truly is a miracle if you think about it, I mean how we are made and all that, like gee it is freaky, and since I suck at science as much as I suck at math, I am leaving it as that...a freaky miracle.

So a week or so ago I ran into Target and I always go by the dollar spot to see what new things they have in there that I can alter for a class, and I found these cute frames they are for a wallet size photo, and I picked up what I could...they were in the $2.50 section, now shouldn't they go from the $2.50 section, and then clearance before they get hauled off and "salvaged"? That is what I am thinking, cause no way would in a week they would go from $2.50 to salvage, but believe me everyone, that is what happened in every dang store I called...it was the same thing "oh we had 6 packs, 12 packs, blah!blah!blah! packs this morning but they are all gone now" I was ready to scream, all I needed was 5 more packs.  I even said "well are they like sitting back in a box in the back room?" cause you know they have a magic back room in all those stores right? but they said no.  I have enough to do a class but not enough for something else I had in mind.

But anyway I did play today with some of the black ones I got and this is what I did...freaky cute eh?

DSCN9064 copy Stamp Set: Twick or Tweet

Paper: Night & Day Specialty DSP, Basic Black, Lavendar Lace, Whisper White

Ink: Basic Black

Misc: Watercolor Pencils, Sansodor, Stumps, Basic Black Striped 1 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon, Martha Stewart (sorry I had to use it) Drippy Goo punch, Serif Essentials Alphabet, Big Shot

I think it turned out so cute, you could have it say anything, I just hot glued the frames to the ribbon.

Here is a close up picture of the individual frames, before I switched over to the new version of Typepad (it is like a new interface or something), I was able to space my pictures so the writing showed up beside it, but now it does not work...so I apologize, maybe I will figure it out eventually...probably just in time for them to update again...ha!

Pucker Up - Fun with Ribbon!

One of the cutest things I saw on display at convention was my fellow Artisan award winner Angie's cupcake box thingie with the yo-yo ribbons, and what broke my heart was it was on the floor, ugh, there needed to be some tables by the displays for 3-d stuff to sit on as it was too heavy to hang on the boards, it was so beautiful.  If you go to Angie's blog you can scroll down to see it.  There is also a tutorial for making the yo-yo ribbons, and I tried them last night and so stinking cute they are.  I found (added since post, I knew I saw it somewhere, and when my feedblitz came in today...ta!da! here is where I saw it, on Lisa Johnson's blog)....that if you use the ribbon that has the threads on the side if you pull that thread you get the look too, that you get with the needle and thread.  So this is what I mean.

DSCN9030 copy Pull the threads on the side and the ribbon puckers.  This makes the whole thing pucker, if you pull both, if you just pull the one side it is more like gathering, that you can put on a card, or sew it into a circle and make the yo-yo like on Angie's cupcake box.

So after I played around then I was like what will I do with my puckered treasures?

So this is what I did.

I had these jars left over from one of our big events, and I had an unopened bag of peanut M&M's, and the color was perfect, it was like fate.  I did eat a couple to make sure they were still fresh, and YUM! they were!

DSCN9028 copy Cute eh? I puckered the Wide Stitched Chocolate grosgrain, and then the strings that were hanging out, I just tied them together to hold the chocolate ribbon around the bottle.

The Wide Stitched Rose Red grosgrain, I sewed after I puckered it into the flower.  I flattened down the large grommet, and hot glued it to the center of the flower.  Then I added the corduroy button. Then I hot glued the flower so that it covered where I had tied the chocolate ribbon to the bottle.

That way it looks nice all the way around.

Simple and cute.  I am definitely gonna be making more yo-yo's, they take a little practice getting them sewn right, but they are definitely worth it.

DSCN9027 copy I also got a new Decor Elements today and put it up on the wall above my desk.  I really want to paint the whole inside of the house nice, cause then I would put more up.  We have not re-painted the inside since we built our house...well other then my studio and the guest room...we need to get busy eh?  Like how I say we?  Ha!

Well I am signing off to get set up for my TLC class tomorrow.

Have a great Saturday and thanks for stopping in!
