Here’s your sign…

This 'n' That

27 May

…that maybe when I am in my studio I don't need the tv on…I mean American Idol is over so what do I need to be watching?  Grays Anatomy is over for this season, and oh oh, when I was in the dentist office today I was reading a magazine that says that Katherine Heigl was changing her mind about leaving the show, so perhaps when the elevator closed it is when they pull Izzie back to life…what do you think?

So since the stupid cable modem strength has taken a dive since the cable guy came and did something to Eric's tv last week and they can't get out here till the 10th of June…can you believe that crap? So they suggested I unhook the splitter that splits the power between the modem and the tv to my studio and just hook the modem up directly.  My neighbor said whoever hooked it up was wacked cause he said they never should have split that and if they did they should have put an amplifier on it…so I unhooked the splitter and plugged the cable directly into the modem and that works but now I have no tv out here.  So perhaps it is the tv God's way of saying get your work done, or go watch tv with your hubby.

So tonight, Jeff and I watched 7 pounds, and I pretty much had it figured out.  It was pretty good, Jeff had to go to bed before it was over so I won't say anything more since he reads my blog first thing when he gets to work, and just in case anyone else has not seen it, I don't want to ruin it.  I will never forget listening to the radio one day and the stupid traffic reporter guy spilled the secret out of the movie Sixth Sense, I was so mad. We had not even seen it, and I had to kind of watch it through Jeff's eyes cause he had not heard the secret.

So that being said, I was cutting paper, class planning and getting my teeth cleaned today, so I did not get a card made, but I do have this one to show you, it is the Sepia Photo technique from my TLC class. I copied and just changed the set from Jan Tink and I think it turned out great.

DSCN8097 copy Stamp Set: Beautiful Blooms

Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Ver Vanilla, Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper

Ink: Basic Brown, Very Vanilla Craft

Misc: Twill Tape, Brown brads, aqua painter, ticket corner punch

Don't forget that you only have a few days left to get the free Designer Series paper.  Buy 3 get one free. You can't beat that deal.

So let's see what day is it for questions? I do believe it is day 5, and that will mean that tomorrow at noon, I will pick a winner for the Mystery Blog Candy….how exciting is that?

So the last question is:  What are your three favorite embellishments?  My answer is: brads, ribbon and buttons (especially the corduroy ones).

Have a super Wednesday and thanks for stopping in!

A digibbs siggy

Waiting for the cable guy is no phone. On July 1 last year we had to get a temporary line run because we were losing signal whenever it rained. It was only LAST week that a new permanent line was run. I hope you have BETTER luck. And yes, you definitely need an amplifier, we have one right where the cable comes into our house.

Favourite embellies are definitely brads, ribbon and flowers…..making masculine cards VERY hard for me to make!

My favorite embellies…. ribbon, bling, and cut out stamped images. Not sure if stamped images count as embellies, but I use them alot to embellish a card.

Based upon the concept that I hoard the stuff I love the most, I'd have to say "Heavy Metal" (aka Hodgepodge Hardware), buttons, and ribbon. Isn't it crazy to "save" the stuff you love the most? I'm trying to get over it, but it is baby steps!! LOL!
Okay, there must be a universal plague going on since my satellite box crapped out on me and as much as I have loved satellite over cable, the love affair is going through some serious issues right now. Nothing like watching 45 minutes of a show to have the box decide to reset itself over and over and over again. AND I can't get someone to come look till the 4th! AAARGH! I told them they were darn tootin' lucky that this didn't happen until AFTER American Idol was done!
    Hugs!

Ribbons and buttons and brads, oh my! Those are my 3 favorite embellishments, not part of the Wizard of Oz song. I liked 7 Pounds. Do you know what the name means? My DH thought it was the weight of a heart, but I told him that was only about 2-3 pounds. I haven't seen Sixth Sense and don't know the secret, so I'll have to watch it. Love the card, by the way!

I love this card and am sad that I am not in AZ to take your class. Will you share the technique with those of us who love you from afar?

I haven't seen 7 Pounds although it's on my "to watch" list. There was NOTHING on TV last night so you didn't miss anything. I ended up watching "Chopped" on the Food Network. The final challenge was to make a dessert out of frozen pie crust, a container of dried dates, a bag of caramels and a bottle of Stout Beer. It was interesting to see how they incorporated all of those ingrediants but I can't say I would have eaten of their creations.

I hope you have an awesome day!!

Ribbon (incl. twill), pearls and my aged copper Hodgepodge Hardware! Oh, how I love to make a masculine card with my Hodgepodge! But if it is for a girlfriend, then bring out the ribbon and pearls! I think you are quite brave and wonderful for making sure Eric has cable tv. To keep the peace in my house, I would have done the exact same thing for my son James (who is much like Eric). Happy Wednesday!

I'm slowly working in eyelets and try to remember to use by Hodgepodge Hardware pieces, especially antique brass on masculine cards! Your card turned out lovely, I love the vintage look! TFS!

Oh Diana, I thought of you last night because guess what? My two teens came home from their gymnastics/church activities and grabbed a flashlight and went outside to go frog hunting! They actually picked up 3 toads (not frogs, but remember to me they are all called frogs, even if they're not) and named them. Then of course, they went back. It sure made me smile, seeing them enjoy their "frogs" again!

Beautiful card! I have never done the sepia technique. I'll have to check it out.

My 3 go-to embellishments are ribbon, buttons & then something to go inside the button, like hemp twine, linen thread, or the like. I really like Scrappers Floss by Karen Foster. Wish we sold that!

    Have a great evening!
