Whose Got a Band-aid?

Display leadership 09 20 Not me, this is too cute for band-aids, but who couldn't use a gift card right now? And this is a great way to wrap it!

This is called a band-aid tin cause basically that is the shape, although I purchased mine empty in order to decorate them for a class, I had a few left over so when I did my displays for Stampin' Up! I did one up...quick and easy, and a pretty way to give a small gift...with lots of zeros on the end...ha!

Stamp Set: Ever After

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Paper: Bella Birds, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla

Misc: Tin, Chocolate wide grosgrain, Pink Pirouette striped ribbon, So Saffron wide ribbon, scallop punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, dimensionals.

How fun eh?

If you see anything you like from Stampin' Up! on my blog, and you don't already have a Demonstrator, feel free to click here and you will be transported magically over to my website, where an order can be yours with just a few clicks of the mouse. Don't forget that Sale-a-Bration is still on (it ends March 31) and with any order that reaches $50.00 before tax and shipping also gives you a free Sale-a-Bration goodie (there are sets, ribbon, and designer series paper - how fun is that?)

Is your wish list as long as your arm? Think about signing up to become a Demonstrator, you can do that from my website as well.  I signed up just to get my discount 10 years ago, who knew it would change my life forever.  These silly little rubber stamps that bring such joy. Holler if you have any questions at all.

Have a great Saturday and thanks for stopping in!

Pucker Up!

Well my Friday challenge for the Hanna Stamps! Forum over at Splitcoaststampers, was to do something feminine and with ribbon, so that is easy enough, I mean ribbon means feminine right?

But how be we do something different with the ribbon, not just tieing, weaving or braiding, how be we pucker it.

So that is what I did for this card. This shows off one of the brand new Hanna Stamps! sets available March 2.

DSCN7148 copy Stamp Set: Dress Up Hanna, Things Hanna Would Say

Paper: Bordering Blue, Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Bella Birds DSP, Watercolor paper

Ink: Jetblack Stazon, So Saffron, Bordering Blue, Going Gray

Misc: Sewing Machine, half back pretties, vanilla taffeta ribbon, nestabilities, liquid pearls

So back to the pucker.

DSCN7149 copy See this ribbon? This is just vanilla taffeta ribbon, and I just puckered it.

Wanna see how?

I used a piece of riding hood red taffeta to show you how to do it, cause it is a little easier to see.

DSCN7146 copy Take your taffeta ribbon, and in the center find one of the threads and start to pull it out, sometimes it takes a bit to find the right thread, a lot of times I use tweezers to get it started.

As you pull the thread, the ribbon will start to pucker, just work with it slowly.

DSCN7144 copy Keep pulling, and then pull back the ribbon that is puckering, keep doing it till you get the look you want.

Just take your time, it is easy to tear that thread, so slow is best.

Practice makes perfect.

DSCN7147 copy Then you got a puckered ribbon...fun eh?

I just pulled mine out flatter for the card till I got the look I wanted.  Tone on tone like the vanilla is less obvious as it twists and turns like the riding hood red piece.

Then I just glue dotted each end to the back of the front of the card before I assembled the rest of the card. (make sure to flatten the edges you are glueing)

Try it, and tell me where you posted your card so I can check it out.

OK, so American Idol, I have picked 5 out of 6 so that is pretty good.  I picked Adam and the red head girl but I did not pick the middle guy, so bad I am not even sure of their names.  It was nice to see Brooke White again, she is a local AZ girl and I saw her a couple years ago or so when she opened up for Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand.

Well I have to run the computer in to the shop in the morning, and have them fix what they forgot, so cross your fingers they do it while I wait.

Have a great Friday and thanks for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

A Salute...

...to all the soldiers and their families everywhere, male or female, away from home and at home.  I don't know how the families do it with a loved one away from home, missing all the fun times and even the bad times, but missing it all the same. God Bless You All!

I was so glad when I saw that Kristi (she owns Hanna Stamps! - and she is such a sweetie) came out with a soldier stamp (brand new for February) and he is actually named after my friend Vicki's son Jon...so this is GI Jon Riley. He is so cute isn't he?  But its funny if you look at some of the other Hanna DT girls, they colored him like he was more dressed...oops!

DSCN6944 copy

Stamps: Riley GI Jon, Things RIley Would Say, Route 66, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Vintage Collection from core-dinations, Basic Black, Gina K Luxury
Ink: Memento Tuxedo, Copics, Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel, Really Rust
Accessories: Sanding block, art pen
Techniques: coloring with copics

I am gonna make a super quick post, I had so much fun today too, I hate to ruin the day with a headache.  I met Rhonda for a coffee and a danish, and we sat outside in the beautiful weather to visit cause we have not seen each other forever, and we kept laughing cause a man parked his motorcyle near the front door, but of course people couldn't see the bike until they started to turn into the spot and they had to back up, or swerve back straight to drive, there must have been 20 people do it, and the biker had no idea this was happening cause he was on the other side, good thing cause it's a wonder it didn't get hit.  He sat there and read his paper, with his smokes. People would have this look on their face, like oh cool, a close spot and then oh crap, theirs a bike there. Didn't take much to amuse us.

So another stinkin' headache, I really need to go see a doc, it is like my teeth even hurt, who knows maybe its my wisdom teeth, would they make me get headaches? It seems to just be the same time at night too.  All I know is I am getting sick of them, and now this stupid Doctor's office keeps calling us trying to fax us, it happens every month and every month I call and say, this is not a fax line stop calling, I called earlier and talked to a lady in the office, and she said there are so many people there she would not know who was sending the fax...hmmm...guess its too much to ask around in the office who just sent a fax eh? So she said she removed the number.  So now their office is closed, and I have gotten 3 phone calls in the last 10 minutes trying to fax us, I called and got the answering service, and who knows if that did any good.  I told her the same thing, this is not a fax, and we are not even patients at that office. Believe me they will be getting a call in the morning, and I will wait till they find out who keeps trying to fax to us...ridiculous! If it wasn't long distance, I would hook up my fax and try faxing their regular number and see how they like it.

Ok, enough of my ranting, I gotta go sit in the dark.

Have a great Thursday, and thanks so much for stopping in, I really appreciate it.

Hugs, Di

A Kind Word...

...is like a spring day. And today, the middle of February, I turned on the a/c in the house, cause it felt more like a summer day. So the kind word is...crap! It's too soon to turn on the a/c.  Jeff even told me so when he came home from work, after he said "Hi honey I'm home!"

Jeff: is the a/c on?

Me: yep

Jeff: It's only February

Me: but it's hot in the house

Jeff: open a window

Me: that does not work in the middle of the day

Jeff: you best be blogging that YOU turned the a/c on in the middle of February!

So there you have it folks, now he can't say I don't do what I am told.

When my new catalogs arrived (well first I went over to MAMMa's and took a gander at hers) and one of the stamp sets that as soon as I saw it, I was like "I am getting that!" was this cute set, it is so sweet, and this is gonna sound freaky weird, but I love the little feet on the girl, I mean they look real, they aren't sticks like in some sets, they are honest to goodness feet with little toes and everything. DSCN7131 copy So I got the set right away but did not get it inked up till the other day when I was working on some special stuff.  So while she was out, I thought I would whip up a card. My back is killing me today (I got under my desk to do some detective work on my noisey computer, I tried two different power cords and neither make the fan quieter - and I tweaked my back coming out from underneath - it didn't help that Toby was sitting on my lap under there...I swear you sit on the floor and the dog is like Lap! Lap! I call it!) so I am gonna post early and go to bed.  I gotta get up early and get my computer in the shop, club orders delivered, meet my girlfriend Rhonda who I have not seen in like forevah, and go see my girlie girl Shannon, then get my butt home to get my Prescott Pines stuff done.

Back to the card, see how Mustang Swingin' Sally is sitting on her rump like she should be? She is not trying to impress the other girls on the swings by sitting on her knees, so that when she gets swinging too high, she falls right off the swing into the mud puddle underneath, and has to wear huge clothes that make her look like a dork from the lost in found for the rest of the day cause her clothes are covered in mud...no siree, Sally is gonna swing a while then she will skip into the house and drink lemon-ade with her little sister (I'll do up a card another day using her sister from the set).

DSCN7130 copy Stamp Set: A Kind Word, Owl Together Now

Ink: Jetblack Stazon, Blush Blossom, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, More Mustard, Regal Rose, Ballet Blue, Going Gray

Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Watercolor paper, Parisian Breeze Specialty Textured DSP

Misc: Kraft Taffeta ribbon, white gel pen, aqua painter

I even did a little paper piecing on the cover dress, whatever you call it the aprony dress over the dress-dress.  Yeah Cojo from Entertainment Tonight has nothing to worry about me taking over his job on fashion.

Well I hope you have enjoyed the card, I know I enjoyed coloring her, give me an aqua painter, and ink refills anyday, and I am a happy girl...add a little Lindt chocolate (that has been kept in the fridge) and I am an even happier...although wider in the buttocks girl...hey it keeps me from falling off the swing into the mud right?

Have a great Wednesday, American Idol will be back on...yeah!  We can forget the woes of the world for 2 hours.  Thanks so much for stopping in!

Hugs, Di
