A Kind Word…

This 'n' That

25 Feb

…is like a spring day. And today, the middle of February, I turned on the a/c in the house, cause it felt more like a summer day. So the kind word is…crap! It's too soon to turn on the a/c.  Jeff even told me so when he came home from work, after he said "Hi honey I'm home!"

Jeff: is the a/c on?

Me: yep

Jeff: It's only February

Me: but it's hot in the house

Jeff: open a window

Me: that does not work in the middle of the day

Jeff: you best be blogging that YOU turned the a/c on in the middle of February!

So there you have it folks, now he can't say I don't do what I am told.

When my new catalogs arrived (well first I went over to MAMMa's and took a gander at hers) and one of the stamp sets that as soon as I saw it, I was like "I am getting that!" was this cute set, it is so sweet, and this is gonna sound freaky weird, but I love the little feet on the girl, I mean they look real, they aren't sticks like in some sets, they are honest to goodness feet with little toes and everything. DSCN7131 copy So I got the set right away but did not get it inked up till the other day when I was working on some special stuff.  So while she was out, I thought I would whip up a card. My back is killing me today (I got under my desk to do some detective work on my noisey computer, I tried two different power cords and neither make the fan quieter – and I tweaked my back coming out from underneath – it didn't help that Toby was sitting on my lap under there…I swear you sit on the floor and the dog is like Lap! Lap! I call it!) so I am gonna post early and go to bed.  I gotta get up early and get my computer in the shop, club orders delivered, meet my girlfriend Rhonda who I have not seen in like forevah, and go see my girlie girl Shannon, then get my butt home to get my Prescott Pines stuff done.

Back to the card, see how Mustang Swingin' Sally is sitting on her rump like she should be? She is not trying to impress the other girls on the swings by sitting on her knees, so that when she gets swinging too high, she falls right off the swing into the mud puddle underneath, and has to wear huge clothes that make her look like a dork from the lost in found for the rest of the day cause her clothes are covered in mud…no siree, Sally is gonna swing a while then she will skip into the house and drink lemon-ade with her little sister (I'll do up a card another day using her sister from the set).

DSCN7130 copy Stamp Set: A Kind Word, Owl Together Now

Ink: Jetblack Stazon, Blush Blossom, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, More Mustard, Regal Rose, Ballet Blue, Going Gray

Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Watercolor paper, Parisian Breeze Specialty Textured DSP

Misc: Kraft Taffeta ribbon, white gel pen, aqua painter

I even did a little paper piecing on the cover dress, whatever you call it the aprony dress over the dress-dress.  Yeah Cojo from Entertainment Tonight has nothing to worry about me taking over his job on fashion.

Well I hope you have enjoyed the card, I know I enjoyed coloring her, give me an aqua painter, and ink refills anyday, and I am a happy girl…add a little Lindt chocolate (that has been kept in the fridge) and I am an even happier…although wider in the buttocks girl…hey it keeps me from falling off the swing into the mud right?

Have a great Wednesday, American Idol will be back on…yeah!  We can forget the woes of the world for 2 hours.  Thanks so much for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

Love this card! Very, very sweet. But I have an observation to make. You seem to know quite a bit about swinging on you knees and falling into mud puddles. Is this first-had experience, by chance? : )

Di, if I lived in the south, I'd have my a/c on in February too! As it is, I live in the Chicago area, and I've been known to have it on in April – and October!!

LOVE your Kind Word card – I finally realized I NEED this set and mine is coming Friday – I can't wait!!

That is such a cute card!

It's far too cold and snowy here to have the AC on just yet…we had a snow storm yesterday and just when we thought maybe winter was on its way out…kablam! A zillion more feet of snow (or so it seems)…

She is sweet and the pinafore is especially dainty with its piercings 🙂 I'm the one who would ruin everything by falling in the mud and ripping a tight and bumping a body part when trying to extract myself from under the computer desk. Are you sure we weren't related in a previous life? Please be sure to call the computer guy so he can open the door for you and you won't have to use that kind work (crap) for him. He doesn't deserve it. Love the coloring!! Is it really hot or could it be hot flashes? Mary Jo

Remember swinging on the swings at the Parkhill Conservation Area!!! Oh the good times!!!

Cute, cute. I like your addition of a branch to swing from! And her patterned pinafore is cute. If she were to say, drip ice cream or lemonade on it, it wouldn't show as much with a pattern to hide it. 🙂

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
