The Year of the Sweet Tooth

This 'n' That

3 Jan

Is it? I don't know…what is 2009 the year of? OK, I googled (urp! excuse me!) and found out it is the Year of the Ox. Hmmm…can I say it is the year of the Oxymoron?

ox·y·mo·ron

Pronunciation:

\ˌäk-sē-ˈmȯr-ˌän\

Function:

noun

Inflected Form(s):

plural ox·y·mo·rons also ox·y·mo·ra  \-ˈmȯr-ə\

Etymology:

Late Greek oxymōron, from neuter of oxymōros pointedly foolish, from Greek oxys sharp, keen + mōros foolish

Date:

1657

: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness) ; broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements

Cause, I mean I can do that more then I can do year of the Ox.  Like Chocolate Moose, cause you all know it is not a moose, or jumbo shrimp…ha, there are more but right now I can't think of any…can you?
Anyway, speaking of chocolate…I got some brand new stamp sets in the mail today, and I had to ink this one up right away.  I wanted this set as soon as I saw it over at Our Craft Lounge.  It is just so de-lish!

DSCN6678 copy Stamp Set: Life is Sweet

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart, Watercolor Paper

Ink: Palette Noir, Baja Breeze, Going Gray, Green Galore, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirouette, Real Red

Misc: Embossing folder, nestabilities, white gel pen, Martha Stewart lace punch, Felt ribbon, funky brads, crystal effects, aqua painter, blender pen

DSCN6680 copy Doesn't it look good enough to eat, don't you almost have a brain freeze thinking about it?  I loved adding the crystal effects to the fudge topping and the cherry, I don't use that stuff enough. In fact I had to unclog it, it had not been used in so long. The picture does not do it justice!

So I have some exciting news for you.  I had one of my cards published.  Here is the link from Scrapbooking.com if you want to check it out.  You can also subscribe to get the Scrapbooking.com newsletter in your email box.  Make sure to sign up for it while you are there.

I picked my blog candy winner today – Congratulations Angie!!! (you can see the winning comment posted on the 2nd – so you know which Angie it is) so hopefully I hear from her soon, if I don't hear from her by gosh I don't know, the 9th (that will give her a week) I will pick someone else.

Have a totally awesome Saturday, and thanks for stopping in!
Hugs, Di

Congrats on being published!! Love your card makes me want to go eat a Sunday. Just love your watercoloring. I don't have any copics and have been wanting them for a while; however, every time I see your watercoloring "art" I realize I "really" don't need the copics ( I also don't want and have to cough up all that money). TFS and I don't know if I've commented before YOU are the first blog I always go to!! LOVE your blod.

I like your idea better… The year of the sweet tooth! Woohoo! Or we could just say the year of Ice Cream! My favorite treat! Especially in the summer time when it's 115 degrees! Terrific creation!

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
