Yep, it's hard to believe that as of January 18 you will not be able to get this adorable stamp set "Serene Spring" anymore. It is one of the Hostess sets that you can earn in the Stampin' Up! Spring Summer Catalog. So if you are wanting to earn this set, give your Demonstrator, or if you don't have one, holler at me. You can still collect orders from your friends, and qualify to get this set for free.
I love this little guy and can ya tell why? Yep…first of all he is so cute and realistic and the detail in the set makes my jaw drop, this is what made me fall in love with Stampin' Up! 10 years ago. Second he is an open line image, and I can color to my hearts content, and ya'll know that makes me happy.
So this card is my ode to Cindy Haffner, not only is she from Canada (as my heart pitter patters and my eyes tear up, as I miss my family) you have to check her stuff out..holy moly is all I can say. I love all her details and the shapes and embellishments, and well just everything, and I bet if I heard her voice, she would have that awesome Canadian accent that I could listen to all day, since I don't have it anymore. Well maybe just sometimes, like when I say "take off eh, you hoser!" you can hear it just a little bit then..ha!
Now my card is no where as beautiful as hers are, and Peter is the other way so I could not figure out how to add ribbon, I put a little half way pearl on top. I had to be careful with my embellishments cause this is a card the ladies will be doing at the 10/10/20 class, and although I use contraband, I don't use it in class, plus even with my Stampin' Up! embellishments, 4 pearls per card, per class attendee, let me tell ya…wowza! So less is more with this card.
Paper: Pink Pirouette textured, Whisper White, Watercolor Paper, Bella Rose DSP
Ink: Jetblack Stazon, Bordering Blue, More Mustard, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Going Gray, Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, Really Rust
Misc: Top Note Die, nestabilities, Pretties Kit, Aqua Painter
There are quite a lot of colors used but that gives it all the definition and the 3-D look to it.
After I colored the basket with creamy caramel, chocolate chip and a bit of really rust, then I quickly ran the aqua painter all over it to kinda soften the colors, but you want to make sure the aqua painter is not very wet.
Oh and so many people email every day on how to watercolor and if I will do a tutorial and I actually have one on here.
Here is the link: How to Watercolor - hopefully that will help, but just practice, believe me I have been coloring for years, and I still make mistakes, and hey it's only paper right? I remember my girlfriend Sharon (hey girl) her Aunt Chris stamped me an image one time and sent it to me to do something with and I was so scared to mess it up, and she said it's only paper. Good moto. Someone else said "There are no mistakes in stamping, only design changes". So crank up the radio that helps me, I have had the radio on all day (well its actually my loaded songs on my computer), I hit it to shuffle, and listen to all sorts of music, Christmas songs were even coming on. I had the house to myself today (except for the dogs) as Jeff and Eric went over to his sister's for a BBQ. I had to get work done so I stayed home.
So I am getting off here now, I want to do a quick tutorial for you tomorrow, did you fall off your chair? Well get up, and remember to come back tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping in!
Hugs, Di
That is absolutely adorable….and oh my gosh….I didn't know Cindy Haffner is from Canada!!!!! I have a folder on my computer that is specifically for saving all her great cards! I could only hope to one day a stamper of her calibre.
You did an awesome job on your "ode to Cindy" card.
I suppose I should make something with this set before it retires eh??
Beautiful card!
Very pretty. Your coloring is amazing!
