Well it's hard to believe but I did work for an accountant for 10 years before I quit to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator full time. It was the best thing I could have done, quit my job I mean, but it was sad too. I had the best boss and when things were slow or I had all my work done, I could stamp all I wanted. In fact when I worked all my business cards were hand-stamped and watercolored…does that surprise ya? Once me moved to Queen Creek from Mesa, I was driving 45 minutes to work one way instead of 10 minutes and it got to be too far. Eric, with his special needs being home for half an hour alone was not working, and he was getting beat up on the way home from school and there was nothing I could do about it 45 minutes away. So Stampin' Up! saved the day!
You would think that working for an accountant all those years I would have my receipts in order and know up to date all my business expenses. Well people, I can not tell a lie. My receipts are in order….the order that I toss them into the bottom drawer of the file cabinet. I do run a copy of them first and staple it to the copy…you know the printing on those flimsy receipts disappear over time. I do have a mileage log in my truck, but that is it. I scramble like most of the world in April (well usually Feb/March – my accountant/old boss would make me go to H&R Block if I showed up in April for my appt) to get all my records in order and handed in, I mean I keep good records I just don't do them every month, I wait and compile them at the end of the year.
So anyway what makes it fun and makes a tedious job a little more appealing is to stamp up a fun cover for your journal or your mileage log or whatever you take notes in.
This is just a $1.00 notebook I bought at Micheals. I covered it with Stampin' Up! Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (DSP for short).
I used stamps from Molly Stamps, called Let's Get Together and the brand new alphabet Quirky Alphabet.
This new alphabet is so much fun, and so easy to cut out. I just colored in the letters before I cut them out, they already have the dark shadow line on them. Just think if you paper pieced them!!!AHHHHH!!!!!
Now I can keep notes of what I want to Blog about, card sketches, what needs to be done, when I am not blogging and stamping….laundry, dishes, cooking…..ha!
So, go get ya a little book and put a nice new stamped cover on it, and you will thank me later. In fact make up a couple and give them to a friend as a gift. I gave this one to Molly and she loved it!
So I am down to one more card to design for my 10/10/20 Christmas class, I have 50 people signed up for this round. I need to finish some swap cards, I also have to design my Sock Monkey class and my Coaster Calendar class. Not much eh?
Thanks for stopping in!
Hugs, Di
