No More BBQ-Chicken Salad…

This 'n' That

17 Jul

…and not cause I am trying to behave and eat good, and lose weight (although the salad was not that fattening), cause I totally am. I walk 1 mile a day on the treadmill watching Reba – I love that show. (I got all 4 seasons – not sure how many there were total)..and I do a bit of pilates too.  I figure I ain’t getting any younger…

But my favorite little restaurant Y-Not BBQ is closing.  I am so sad, cause they feel like family and they are all so nice. This darned old economy and mess that USA is in is not good for Mom and Pop businesses, or a lot of businesses. So they are going to be closing their doors this Sunday.  So if you have ever eaten there and want to have one more meal, get over there.  If you have never eaten there and you want to taste some great cooking, get over there too!  A bunch of us are going over on Saturday (maybe Friday and Sunday too) – I gotta get my fill of my salad…I wonder if ya can freeze it?.

So I have been playing with yet another new stamp set coming out in the Stampin’ Up! Fall-Winter Catalog.  I still need to figure out my swap cards for convention and get started on those too, so I can be all ready and not be running around with my head cut off the day before.

Got my pedicure all booked with my girlfriend Sharon (Hi!!) – we’re gonna do peds and lunch…fun! fun!  Love doing it at Trina’s Nail they are super sweet and love that they have a bunch of chairs so you can go with a girlfriend or two, or three. They do hot rocks and everything.  Gotta get my tootsie’s all fancied up for Convention and roomin’ with my BFF Tracy….let’s see who has the wackiest prettiest toes!!!!

Which reminds me, that before I leave for Convention, you only have until July 26th, to save 10% on all the retired stamp sets.  Shipping and tax will be charged on the regular price. Please remember this is a special I am offering and not Stampin’ Up!

Anyway back to the card….

This is a new stamp set called Dreams du Jour.  It has 4 pieces, or would that be quatre pièces?

Very pretty.

I again used the new Bella Rose paper, cause I love it, and basically that is the only BG paper we could pre-order…ha! I am such a background paper person, I swear I have a hard time making a card anymore without it. So until mid August you are stuck seeing this paper over and over..well and over. But mid August I will be able to post my Convention Display samples I did and then you will see some new stuff there, and I will be back from Convention with more new stuff..

So this card has a bit of layering going on, not that you can tell from front on, but from the side…

…you sure can. I layered the DREAMS saying and then on top of that I layered the flowers. So in person, it looks pretty good…I think.

I have been laying in our fancy new pool…ha! We let the water out every couple days and refill it.  We have it go right into the trees in the backyard so we don’t waste any water.  I wanna get a bit of color, as I am pretty pale, I tan pretty easy. As I lay there I try to figure out what monthly payments would be on a real pool?

So tomorrow, I need to figure out my swap cards too, so I can get that paper cut and stuff.  The Sock Monkey is screaming to be one of the choices, and if that is true I gotta simplify him a little bit.

Look at how cool he looks using the textured cardstock, plus some darn good colorin’ – check out Kimberley Morris’ blog –http://procrastistamper.blogspot.com/2008/07/textured-sock-monkey.html

Kimberley emailed me last week to show me what she did, aint she the smartest girl?…I am so in love with the look of him like this…..hey Kimberley did you ever finish the card, or just hang him up at your desk? He was cute as is.

Well all, I gotta get off here, I got two dogs begging for a treat, and they aint getting anymore…no  matter how pathetic they sound, or how sad their eyes are, or how Toby comes over and stands by me, and keeps pawing at me….I won’t cave….I won’t…oh crap, now it’s the silent treatment…he is now at my feet with his back to me…ok…only one more and that’s it….

Thanks for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

OMG, how sweet are you? Thanks for linking to me, and for the kind compliments on the monkey 🙂 I haven't put him on a card just yet…and it's a huge story as to why I haven't…but the gist of it is that my boyfriend's kids are being removed from their mom's home due to neglect, and the two daughters (8 & 10) are going to be living here instead, so we've had to make some emergency plans. For now, Sock Monkey sits in the middle of my stamp desk, beckoning me to make more "clones" of him whenever I look his way!! Meanwhile, I have a lot of rearranging to do, to be available to the girls, and to get ready for convention, at the same time.

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
