Monkeyin’ Around

This 'n' That

11 Jul

I am so lovin’ my Sock Monkey.  He just screams paper piecing, and yeah that takes some time, but it is so worth it.  Now I mean I’m not doing 50, 20, 10 or even 5 of them in multiples, but it is so much fun to do. They are like their own little masterpieces, no one is the same…like a snowflake…ya know.

Ok, enough blabbing…here is one of the monkey cards I did today.

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Sock Monkey, Hugs & Wishes, Twill

Paper: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, East Coast Prep, Berry Bliss, Watercolor paper

Ink: Jetblack Stazon, More Mustard, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Summer Sun, Going Gray

Misc: White gel pen

I stamped the Twill background stamp on the chocolate side of the Berry Bliss Designer Series paper, then stamped the monkey on top.  Using that paper makes it easier to cut out since it is thinner.

I did make the eyes of the monkey a little bigger with the black marker, I almost added googly eyes, but it made him look too freaky and I did not want that for this card.

I also played with another new set today, did I tell you the rest of my stuff came today? Couldn’t you hear me screaming…yeah! yeah!  New inks, new papers, new sets, new buttons, new scallop punch…new! new! new!, and let me tell you it is much easier to use the new cardstock when I actually have the inks that match.

So here is a little sneak peek of the card I will show you tomorrow……

I’m gonna go back and play some more….fun! fun!

Thanks for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

I'm a Sock Monkey Junkie, too 🙂 Here's my first attempt to cute him all up…I was really pleased with how it came out! I'm not a Watercolor Wonder like you, Diana, I'm more leaning towards Watercolor Wetarded, so I just used markers, mostly.

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
