So as I was eating my Frosted Mini Wheats this morning, and keeping an eye on Toby and Sammi so they eat their own food and not each others…believe me you don't want a 13 year old dog eating a whole bowl of puppy food…don't ask why…just take my word for it.
Observation One:
I was reading my Country Weekly magazine and as I was going through the pages I noticed that Carrie Underwood has already been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, and sorry Jeff honey (my hubby loves her, and picked her right from her initial try-out for American Idol.) I think that she got it too soon. I mean, I looked online at the members and they don't have listed George Strait or Toby Keith, and I am hoping it is just not a complete list, but to me, I think she needs to be around longer to get such an award. She is very talented, don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone yelling at me…but it seems today that kids (I can call her that, as I am old) seem to get awards too soon. Heck my Mum was telling me that the kids at school or it could have been Sunday school in Canada, maybe not all over Canada, but she was saying that you can not give an award to one kid without giving an award to everyone. What the heck is that all about? No wonder kids grow up to not have a clue what the real world is about, and lash out and do wild and sometimes dangerous things to themselves and others. Nuff said.
Observation Two:
Toby has great taste, not just any slipper is good enough to chew on. He is like his mama, all Stampin' Up! all the time! Ha!
Thank goodness these were monstrously big and I could not wear them, or I would be upset, instead of proud of the little dickens!
Observation Three:
Ants and sugar, they must be addicted to it. I have 4 hummingbird feeders, and 1 oriole feeder. 2 of the hummingbird feeders hang on the patio and the rest of the feeders are in trees. Well lately the feeders on the trees have had tons of ants on them, so tonight I went out to watch them. I mean, as long as they don't get on me I don't care.
So here are tons of ants on the feeder crawling all around, they have crawled up the tree, down the branch, down the chain and onto the feeder. Then they go in the holes, some come out some don't because there are a lot dead in the bottom of the feeder when I change out the food.
But you can see them as they crawl back up the feeder, back up the chain that their butts are covered in the sugar water. I don't know if they dip their butts in the sugar and it sticks or what, and I wonder how the heck it does not fall off on the way back to the nest. Can't ya hear the queen, "where's the sugar water? I told you I needed it for dinner, my one million babies are hungry!" and the worker ant will be like "well it was there when I left, I dipped my butt and I came straight back here!" of course she does not believe him, he has had a history of hanging out with his buddies after work and getting snockered.
It is hard to get a good picture, cause they move really really fast! Maybe their little ears can hear the queen cracking her whip! But see the bubble of sugar water on the butt?
Observation Four:
My family really loved me as a child…and I know they do still. My Granny is in a nursing home so my Mum has been going through stuff at Granny's house as it is up for sale. And anyone knows that you don't just toss stuff away cause you don't know what you will find.
So when we went home last month, Mum had some stuff in a pile for me to go through, and they made me smile, and shake my head at the same time.
One of things was this envelope and the rock that was in it. On the envelope in Granny's writing it says: Diana sent this stone in for Granny Sun. Oct 25/70
That's it, no other explanation. I mean I was 5, so I really don't remember doing it, why did I send it in to Granny? Maybe this was one of her many trips to the hospital and as a 5 year old maybe I thought a gift of a rock was all I could afford, maybe I could not go in to see her but I wanted to send her a gift. I wish I knew. Granny kept diaries, so I bet I could look back at this date and find out what was going on.
But how special she thought I was to keep this all these years. I love her so much. I almost threw it away, how bad is that? My Mum said "Granny kept this all these years, you are not throwing it away" and you know what I am going to treasure both the rock and the envelope with Granny's writing. When I am old someone can go through my stuff and find it.
That is why when we scrapbook we need to tell more about the pictures on our pages then just names, and dates, so years later, we will know that this picture was when we went to Uncle Bob and Aunt Patty's and Dad pushed me in the pool and I ate 7 hotdogs and…etc….we don't think it is important, and we think we will remember what happened, but down the road when we are gone, other's will surely enjoy the story…so I am going to put the rock back in the envelope and this envelope in another envelope and write a note about what it is all about so years down the road they will know the story and they can decide what to do with it.
Another thing in there was this, me learning how to print. Dated Friday April 4/69 – I was 4 at this date.
I understand Dad Mom Diana Jacqui but not sure what the other one is.
Families are special and I am blessed to have a great family, and I am one of the lucky ones to have a Mum and Dad in-law that I love like my own, and I have an awesome extended Stampin' Up! family too.
So as we come to a Father's Day Weekend, maybe give your Dad an extra squeeze and tell him how much you love him, maybe go out and find him a rock, and tell him to put it in his pocket, and know that every time he feels it in his pocket, it means how much you love him.
Thanks for stopping in!
Hugs, Di
