Well I think it is anyway. Last week or so Jeff said there was a big yellow bird in the backyard and it was drinking from the hummingbird feeder. I kept thinking I was seeing it, but what I saw looked more like a finch and he said that was not what he saw.
So I mentioned it to my BFF Tracy who has bird feeders, bird houses, and hummingbird feeders all over her gorgeous yard, and she said maybe it was an Oriole, but she said that that was more of an orange bird, and I knew Jeff said yellow.
So today I walked in the kitchen and I looked out the window and there it was in the tree, so I ran into my studio grabbed my camera and took 3 pictures of it through the window, as you can see by the blinds in the way.
It kept moving around but it was still close enough that I could take it’s picture.
So I sent Tracy the pictures, her hubby has a bird book and always helps me figure them out. One day we tried to trick him and I sent a picture of the road runner and pretended I did not know what it was, but he did not even have to look it up, he guessed. But then I thought I would look up Oriole online and sure enough that is what it is.
I have never seen an Oriole, let alone in our yard. We get Cardinals, Finches, Hummingbirds, oh yeah a road runner now and then, and these other shit (excuse my language) birds I call ’em, crapping all over my truck, and I cant remember what we had one other time, a yellow bellied sap sucker or something like that, but this was about the most fanciest bird I have seen in our yard.
This I believe is the male, and what Jeff was seeing was the female cause later tonight I saw it, and he was like there it is and I was like the one I saw was more closer to orange, and he was like no it’s yellow, so I showed him these pictures.
So how cool we have a male and a female oriole, and Jeff says there is probably a nest somewhere.
Thanks for stopping in! Hope ya didn’t mind me giving you the bird!!!
Hugs, Di
Well I just came in from Drinking my Morning Coffee on the porch and Steve and I had NEARLY the same exact conversation that you just put on your blog entry today. (Scary) Yup he says Jeff was probably seeing the Female and you saw the Male!!
Aren't they beautiful!!!! Di they have actual Oriole Feeders and you can put in it the same food you put in the Humming Bird feeder. They are Orange and have a larger hole. Years ago we used to just stick an orange cut in half on a slab of wood and they would pick at that!!
Someday when I go to Heaven I'm gonna ask God what he was thinking giving those Male Birds "All" the Color!!
Wish we were bird watching together!!!
Love Ya,
Tracy
LOL!! I think I am gonna pee my pants!! You two & "your bird" crack me up! Happy Mom's Day early. I LOVE U !!
