Secret Sister Part Deux

3-D Items

10 Apr

I must say I got the pick of the litter for my Secret Sister this year.  These are the awesome gifts I got. Now all of you know that my BFF Tracy and I were each other’s Secret Sister, so the only surprises were the gifts.  These are some more of the gifts I got from Tracy that were hand stamped.

Tracy is the best for trying out patterns, I am the best at printing a pattern on my printer, and filing it away in a file folder never to be seen again.

Isn’t this the funnest little purse? I must admit I had tried this pattern before and did it a workshop and everyone loved it.  I probably got the pattern from Tracy.

Isn’t this lamp the cutest?  Tracy put Rub-On’s on the lamp shade ablog pics 040908 023nd then she cut certain parts of it and then it folds out a little bit, she added some of the Flower Fusions and the halfback pearls from the Prettie’s kit and cute, cute!  She was not happy with the stand, but she could not find the base she really wanted, so I will look around myself, but for now…it is going in my stamp room as is!

This was my final gift and oh my gosh she is the sneakiest…she packed her photo printer machine thing and printed pictures from the trip.  Lucky for her she did not have to fly to NY, and pack it!!!!

So it was funny to open it up, and see pictures that were taken the night before.

What great memories!

One of the other gifts I got was a book called “Dirty Words of Wisdom” and I have not looked at it much yet, but for a few, and it is funny, different quotes from people, excuse the profanity…but then that is why the title is Dirty Words of Wisdom:

“God grant me patience – and goddammit, hurry up.” – Bob Knight, basketball coach

“The hell with the hair on your head. It’s the hair on your chest that counts.” – Humphrey Bogart, actor

“God only made so many perfect heads, the rest he covered with hair” – Milton Lightfoot, my Poppa

Ok, I had to add this one, it is not in the book, but the Bogart quote reminded me of what Poppa always said, cause as long as I remember him he never had much hair.  He died almost 10 years ago, and I still think of him and miss him every day.  Another thing he always said was “Apple pie without the cheese, is like a kiss without the squeeze” – typed with a big smile and a tear in my eye.

Oh another thing that is funny, my Poppa’s name was Milton, and my Granny’s name is Beryl and years and years and years ago, before I was even born (and it is my birthday today so that is lonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg agoooooooooo)  Poppa and Granny were going to a family reunion so the people that were hosting the reunion were telling the kids that Milt and Beryl were coming to the reunion, but what the kids were hearing was Milton Beryl was coming to the reunion, so they told all their friends, then when Poppa and Granny (a.k.a Milt and Beryl) showed up those kids were sure surprised, and probably a little disappointed. Funny eh? I love that story.

Bloomin Beautiful class 007

OK back to the Secret Sister gifts..This is an empty Hodge Podge tin that I decorated and I filled it with hand stamped cards. I did not take pictures of the cards as most I had posted to my blog before.

I also gave Tracy a set of the class projects from the Bloomin’ Beautiful class, I am trying to find where I put the other stuff on my computer, but can’t.

I will keep looking tomorrow cause my back is killing me and I can hardly sit any longer, and I have to cut paper tomorrow for my class this weekend, and I also was one of the Demonstrators chosen to make display stuff for Convention, so I have to get all that stuff done too, so I better hit the hay, and let the old back have a rest, if I don’t I won’t be able to stand up straight for 2 days…”it sucks to get old” – Diana Gibbs – I’ll add that one to the book too!

Oh and one last item….blog pics 040908 021 years ago I did a tile class (I might have to do it again, as people keep asking me to do one) anyway this was one that we did, and they are so much fun, this one sits by my stove and I use it to put my dirty spoon on when I am cooking….so it pretty much stays clean all the time…ha! only kiddin!

Alright folks…thanks for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

I cannot believe that Tracy brought that lamp on the cruise! It looks like she must have had a very heavy suitcase! I LOVE the hodge podge tin that you decorated.

Suggestion for your lamp base… Pottery Barn Kids. I know it sounds silly, but I swear, they have the best lamp bases anywhere.

    Oh, and there's also IKEA.

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
