Why I Love My Job

This 'n' That

14 Feb

I was asked to be in a special swap recently and I had to make 2 different cards (14 of each) using new stamp sets.

One of the reasons I ordered the Pun Fun set was the skunk.  Well the rocket is cute too, but ya know I have been known to order a whole stamp set just for one image. Yeah, it’s a sickness.Pics_for_my_blog_018 I must admit it turned out pretty cute. I used Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, and Old Olive card stock. Plus the new Spring Break background paper, and as sad as I was to see a lot of my favorite background papers retire from the Fall Winter catalog, these new ones are beautiful. I also used some watercolor paper to stamp the skunk on and color. I am a color freak, it is my therapy, I can color for hours.

I added a little ribbon from Jersey Ribbon Originals, a little SS brad, and "ta-da" it was done.

The next set I used was Spring Song, the hummingbird and greeting tug at my heart as it reminds me of my visit to my BFF Tracy’s house in PA last year.  I used the little bird for the swap because I was on a bit of a time Pics_for_my_blog_015 crunch and he was easier and quicker to color.  I used Blue Bayou, River Rock Cardstock, and Porecelain Prints background paper.

I colored, of course, on watercolor paper with my aqua painter.

I did some faux stitching (the only stitching I do) added some Blue Bayou Double Stitch ribbon, put the colored bird in the Scallop punch hole and he was done too.

I am looking forward to seeing the swaps I get back.  We have some talented girls in our group, and I was honored to be asked to join them.

This year I was chosen to be one of the Demonstrators to make display samples for our Annual Stampin’ Up! Leadership Event.  I have done this a few times, and it is so much fun, and I must admit sure strokes my ego.  Here are a couple of the cards that I made for that. Pics_for_my_blog_022This card is using Give Thanks, and I love this set, give me a set with a bucket in it, (or if you watch Keeping Up Appearances on PBS it is pronounced "bouquet" I love british humor) and I am in heaven.  One of my Demonstrator friends Marjori always teases when I do a swap with the bucket, she will be like "oh great it’s the bucket again", If the set has apples…oh my gosh that is even better. I mean I don’t eat apples, but they are fun to color. If the bucket was separate it would be even better. Then you could put anything in it.

Pics_for_my_blog_019_2 The Unfrogettable celebrate card was inspired by Anna Wight, she is so talented. You can check out her gallery at Splitcoast Stampers. I added some lips, eyelashes and dots to the frog, had to turn her into a "chick"

All right that’s enough of my blabbering.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping in.

Hugs, Di

Hi, my name is Diana Gibbs and I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator since 1999. I never imagined getting up and talking to people, I am deaf (I wear hearing aids) so talking to strangers has never been a fun thing for me. But put a rubber stamp in my hand and I will talk to anyone.

I hope you can find inspiration and learn new and exciting things while you are here. If there is ever anything you want me to teach you, just let me know!
